Default Hollywood

I believe this thread is a long time coming. Am I the only one who is tired of all of these Hollyweird elitists giving their political opinions at the drop of a hat? Also, isn't it funny that the only celebrities who spout off about politics are the liberals? You rarely, if ever see any conservative stars giving any political commentary of any kind but turn on any channel and you see libs like the Dixie Chicks, Rosie O'Donnell, Sean Penn spouting off about one thing or another and others like Al Franken, Bill Mahr, Jeanine Garafolo, and Whoopie Goldberg feel they are such political experts that they have their own radio or TV show on the subject. The only entertainers who give any commentary from the right are Charlie Daniels and Toby Keith and Keith is a registered Democrat and then, of course, there is Ah-nald but he is hardly a conservative Republican. There are many, many Hollywood conservatives(Gary Oldman, Chuck Norris, Tom Selleck, Patricia Heaton to name a few) but you hardly if ever see them on TV, hear them on radio, or see then campaigning actively for any candidate. Now, why do you think that is?

I rarely notice it but it is probably because I discriminate in what I watch (it has gotten much better that way ever since my kids grew up). Now-and-then somebody at the office will mention their beef with what some star had to say, but I just tell them the truth saying I couldn't care any less about some celebrity's politics.

I agree. It was good to see Dennis Miller on the O'Reilly Factor the other night.

But for every Dennis Miller there are about 50 Alec Baldwin's. Speaking of which, Bush is in the 6th year and the 2nd of his 2nd term and Baldwin has still not moved to France.

As CF2K would say, Baldwin was "speaking rhetorically" when he said he'd move to France if Bush got elected.

The Baldwins and Tim Robbins of the world make me sick to my stomach. All they do is *****, *****, *****, and never do anything (except funding radical leftist groups) to make any kind of difference; hypocrisy at it's best.

I don't mind, per se, that these Hollyweird elitists have a political opinion but what gets me is that they believe that since they are celebrities this makes them political experts. Then you have the Sean Penn's and Jane Fonda's of the world who go as far as to go visit the enemy.

As for any Hollywood conservatives, it's believed that the reason why we don't hear much from them is because they would be blackballed. Funny considering how these Hollywood types are still bitter about leftists getting "blaclballed" back during the red scare.

If you consider "I like to hunt. (BLAM!) See?" a political opinion, then yes, Nuge is a constant source of political opinion.

I myself don't mind too much that celebrities voice their political opinions - they have that right just like everyone else, that's what's great about this country. Indeed, they have every right to make themselves look as smart or as stupid as they really are. More power to 'em.

What I mind is when they mis-state the opposition opinion or position before proffering their own. It's one thing to be opposed to something, it's another to lie about the position you oppose.
