Nobody had really brought this up yet so I thought I would give credit where it's due.

Last week (against the 49ers.) I was so excited for the game to start. All the pregame stuff was amazing, the BlackEyedPeas were totally awesome! I was really anxious to see who the Cards had brought in to sing the National Anthem. I was thinking,, hmm Christina Aguilera? Beyonce? Mariah Carey? Kelly Clarkson? You know, all the typical choices and I have to admit I was a little surprised when they announce some local girl from Glendale was going to sing it. I have to admit I was a little disappointed.

Then she started singing.

I am telling you that was the most amazing rendition of the national anthem I have ever heard. I had chills going up and down my body and I looked over at my dad (a vietnam vet) and he had tears streaming down his face, which ofcourse got me going as well cuz I had never seen that before, and I'm not even like overly patriotic or anything, you know, I love my country but I dont really like freak out when I watch "the patriot" or anything. Lets just say the Anthem has never touched me that deeply before. Everyone around us was just in awe of how beautifuly she sang. Looking around at our amazing stadium and hanging out with all my fellow Arizona Cardinal fans, I felt really patriotic.

I just wondered if anyone else felt the same way and if anyone remembers what her name was.

Props to you local girl, you blew me away and did more justice to our National anthem than I have ever heard in my life. I will never forget it. Thanks

She was sooooo good, she had me singing along with her.

That was a pretty cool rendition of the ol' star spangled banner.

They should have that trumpet player do a game, that guy who did games at D' Backs and Suns games for a while.

BOOMAN....that was Jordin Sparks. She is Phillipi Sparks (of ASU and NY Giants/Dallas Cowgirl fame) daughter and YES, she is solid! She actually just won the Arizona Idol competition last week on Channel 3 and won a new Ford Fusion. That was a great rendition no doubt!

I got to know Phillipi when he was a member at a golf course I worked at. Him and his family were some of the nicest people I've ever been aquainted with. I love it when the good people of the world are successful. Jordin did a great job with the anthem! I'm sure she has a great career ahead of her.

No. Jesse's VERY good. She was BETTER.

Although closely reading your post you state he should do "a" game, not "that" game. And if that's what you meant, I agree. He should do one game this year.

Didn't he a do a preseason game?

That is what I meant. I enjoy his trumpet playing, but It did get a little old after a while performing every game at the BOB, but it's been a few years now and I wouldn't mind seeing him once more.

In my 57 years I never heard anyone sing it better, brought tears to this old mans eyes. We need to have her back again before the year is out.

I'm bumping this...

Just an FYI that Jordin Sparks is one of the final 24 on American Idol.

From this point they'll sing and Simon Radul* will cut it down to 12. At that time they'll open it to viewers to vote.

How do I know how it all works??? I watch, OK!!! jeez....

Kids would watch American Idol from time to time and, I have, to admit, would catch it towards the last 4 weeks.

This will be the first time watching it from the final 24 and voting for Jordin!!!!!!

Going back to the game, I think everyone in our section had tears in their eyes when she sang!!!!

GO JORDIN!!!!

Glendale teen advances on 'Idol'

Glendale resident Jordin Sparks easily slid on through to the next round of American Idol on Wednesday night and now stands among the season's top 20 vocalists.

This week, four contestants were booted for not receiving enough votes. Pulling in support seemed easy for Jordin, who had staff members of the Arizona Cardinals and a bar full of supporters up in Cave Creek simultaneously voting for her by phone.

Jordin sang at Pat Tillman's 2004 memorial service and other Cardinals' events, prompting team staff to dial in their votes Wednesday night. Jordin performs on Idol again next Wednesday night.

Despite the fact that Cardinal's staffers have voted for her, I think this thread officially needs to be moved to the non-football/non-cardinals related section of the boards as it is no longer really related to anything to do with the Cardinals, the stadium etc.

The topic has become about this girl and her American Idol run/aspirations.

If Cardinals staff voting for her makes this "related to the Cardinals" then my truck should be allowed to park in the team parking at the stadium because it's red.

I can honestly say that I have never watched more than 10 minutes of any reality show. I just don't have any interest in watching them.

Having said that, I like the idea that we are getting these updates here because otherwise I would have no way of knowing how the first person to sing the the National anthem in Cardinal Stadium is doing.

And that's the connection with this location. No matter what happens she will always be the first (and doesn't the first always hold a special part in our hearts??!!)

They did a short video on what is something people don't know about you.

Jordin's was, "I wanted to play football or sing!!! I choose to sing"

They showed pics of her at an ASU game with her family and her at the Cards game, before we all got in, standing next to a kid with an Edge jersey on.

Wife and kids were voting like crazy.

I hate reality shows but this time, it's peak my intrest.

Jordin should make it through the next few rounds easily. Most of her competition is the other girls that are still in it. She did good getting in the top six of the women. There's a few of the guys that should go out quickly. There's this one guy so bad it's funny, Sanjaya Malakar. He has the full backing of .....................

Jordin has a lot of talent and she already has a good career going. The Cardinals should have her back to sing the Anthem again. I haven't seen her dad, Phillipe, in the audience. Maybe I missed it, anybody seen him yet?

We even went a couple weeks ago to Westgate to see her and the parade. It was great.

We are pulling for her all the way.

She should do the National Anthem for the Super bowl here, esp. if she wins Wed.

Won't be able to watch it, till later, or even go to Glendale Arena, because my youngest grads. 8th grade at 7pm that night
