Okay here's the draft board according to Charles Robinson from Yahoo! Sports.

1. Houston- Reggie Bush
2. New Orleans – Matt Leinart
3. Tennessee- Jay Cutler
4. NYJ- D’Brickashaw Ferguson
5. Green Bay- Mario Williams
6. San Francisco - A. J. Hawk
7. Oakland- Vince Young
8. Buffalo - Haloti Ngata
9. Detroit- Michael Huff
10. Arizona Cardinals – LenDale White, RB, USC. White showed up at the combine a little heavy. One scout said he heard groans when White took his shirt off to be measured and weighed. But the buzz was that the Cardinals like him and think he'll be at his best once his pro day rolls around. The thinking is that White can be the power back to accentuate J.J. Arrington's finesse style.

He also has Vernon going to the Rams. They way I see it, the Cardinals have two options:

1. Don't get a RB in FA, get Lendale to run with J.J. Lendale's odometer is at zero, but he'll be another Ron Dayne if he doesn't have protection. That being said, this does open up more money to get some quality O-Lineman and maybe some secondary help. Does this strategy open up specualtion that Hutchinson is on the radar? I think so.

2. Get a FA running back (Jamal really is the most sensible), get Vernon at #10. Vernon truly has freakish skills, and with our O-coordinator being a former TE coach with K.C (Tony Gonzalez), what better teacher are you going to find? You can still get some decent Lineman, and still be under the cap. Can Hutchinson still be done? Perhaps, if Mr. Bidwill really opens up the checkbook. But in the 18 years of Arizona/Phoenix Cardinal Football, does your gut tell you he's really going to spend ALL that money?

Tough decision, but either one has alot of potential and could be win-win, which doesn't happen here very often. Need some opinions.

If Lendale doesn't drop to us we're screwed.

We cannot let the Rams have Vernon Davis.

This guy is the Randy Moss OF TEs!!!

I can't follow your logic. First, how are we "screwed" if we don't get White.
Personally I like DeAngelo more than White. I don't think there is any clear cut verdict one way or the other. People are split on this. So to me I'm not losing any sleep if we don't get Lendale.
Also, we take Davis because we want Davis. What the Rams are going to do is a non factor. Who cares what they do.

Okay let me explain:

1) If we don't sign a big time FA RB because we "THINK" White will drop to us that is way too risky. And IF he runs a solid 40 it's even riskier!!! That's my point if we were at say 5 or 6 it might be worth the risk but waiting for him at 10 worries me. ALSO, sure Deangelo might be there but he's very similar to JJ I don't think Green adds another RB exactly like JJ (especially since he hasn't given up on JJ).

2) As for V Davis - it depends what Green thinks of him. If he thinks this guy is the next Randy Moss FREAK TYPE Player and will be uncoverable by CB or LB then you have to take him. If he thinks he is nothing special of course then who cares. GB CHI and DET were celebrating when Moss was traded away. He dominated that division. If STL wasn't right behind us it might not matter as much. If STL's NEW HC did not already express interest in drafting TE. If their coach was not known for running a 2 TE offense etc.

In both cases a lot depends on Green's thinking.
My thinking is we can't wait on White we need to sign a big time RB or trade for one like Davis. If White is there so be it.

Ultimately I would rather take the safe path add a FS,DT,RB, OL in Free Agency and then take PURE BPA AT #10. Now IMO that would be V Davis OVER Young/Cutler etc.

I love V Davis's potential I wonder if Green does too. He drafted a TE high before and TRADED UP TO GET HIM. He loves freakish players WITH SPEED. He loves high character guys. V Davis fits the mold of a Denny Green pick to a tee imo!

You have some interesting facts Wild Cards. It's going to be a tough decision. I really don't think Lendale will get any nods before us, simply because of the needs of the other 9 teams. Of course, who knows what's going through Matt Millen's head half of the time, so he might jump at him. But regardless of what time he runs, I think we're safe, although I'm an optimist. I think Coach Green would love te fact that he hand picked his backfield from the draft, and these have been his guys from day one. In this scenario though, if we get Lendale, Hutchinson has to be a #1 priority, along with at least another FA O-Lineman for depth. We have to create holes for these guys, or we're in the same boat as last year.

I think if Lendale runs a great 40 he jumps into the top 10.

V Davis jumped into the top 10 after his combine numbers.

Lendale is a unique back he's a power back. Like Bettis. He's the kind of back a team might take for that very reason over say a smaller Deangelo type.

First, someone might trade into the top 10 to get him. Teams in the top 10 are always looking to trade out.

Second, lets break down the top 10 teams. HOU won't take him. NO won't take him. TEN doesn't really have a tough RB there's a chance. NYJ I think are a realistic team to take him C Martin is getting old they lost Lamont Jordan. GB is a serious destination too they don't have a RB who is legit! A big RB who can run in the cold is perfect for GB. SF might take him but Gore looked decent. OAK will not take him. DET I doubt takes him Millen is insane LOL. BUF won't take him.

And like I said someone else can move in there to get him JUST before he comes to us.

What we do with this pick is so dependant on FA, and to a lesser extent the CBA. From what I have seen both DeAngelo and White are good backs, but pick #10 seems a little high for either of them. They could both have excelent pro careers, but I wouldn't call either of them a slam dunk. Davis has more upside, and though I tend to think of TE as a reach in the first round, Antonio Gates has proven what an amazing TE can do to a Defense. What troubles me is his combine numbers, actually. Huge arms and hands, fast 40 and big ups, BUT both his shuttle and cone drill were dissapointing... you have to go back to production on the field. Anyone who has seen a lot of Davis care to drop their two-cents?

Why dont Cardinal fans want DeAngelo Williams? He Broke NCAA Records with a bad/average offensive line in memphis. Has great instincts...a team leader...and carried Memphis single handely to a Bowl Victory literally.Could have been a first rounder last year. No wonder you guys havnt gotten a good running back yet, your whole organization sucks at picking running backs and i mean the whole organization.

:chillpill: Wildcard, when were you annoited the FACTman? I mean, you do make some valid points from time to time, but you really need to discern opinions from "facts". There is a difference...

Anyways, I am sorry to say it, but I am beginning to believe that #10 is probably the most dangerous place in the draft. I'd like to wait and see for a little while longer until after some of the major pro days, but I think we should either trade up for a talent we could really use (read: D'Brickashaw Ferguson) or trade down and try to get someone like Justice, Huff, etc.

Disclaimer: This is just one Cardinals fan's OPINION.

The Bills will not let Vernon Davis slip through their fingers if he is avaible. Everyone has us taking Holti Ngata but I don't think marv will. He will take davis because he knows that having a good tight end will help out losman more in the passing game. Also we will not have eric moulds so we need another downfield threat, and I think davis will be that guy.

Sorry to bump old threads but I always get a kick out of going back in time and looking at mock drafts...and how wrong they always are. :)

Seriously..though i remember Leinart dropping to #10 was pretty big back then...doesn't hold a candle to Quinn though. :iconrolf:

it's fantastic that you bump these.

It's always a good reminder of how "smart" we think we are.
