I heard on ESPN that the roof will be closed for the game tonight. The report said it was because it gets a little chilly at night in the desert.
I was really surprised to hear that. I thought for sure they would put down the top. I wish they would change their mind. They are going to open the roof for the fireworks and flyovers during the pre-game show and then close it. I guess that will be kind of cool for the fans to see.
Two flyovers are scheduled today in connection with with events surrounding the Bowl Championship Series game this evening at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
At 3:30 p.m., there will be a four-plane F-16 flyover at Westgate City Center when Gen. Bill Looney, commander of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command, announces that Air Force Week will take place March 19-25 with various activities around the Phoenix metro area.
Then during the playing of the national anthem before the game starts at 6:30 p.m., a B-1B aircraft from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, will conduct a flyover at the stadium.
The public should not be alarmed if they observe the B-1B aircraft flying over an area out of the normal flight path for Luke jets. The B-1B will be in a holding pattern over the White Tank Mountains for an hour prior to its flyover at the stadium.
