Does anyone here watch this show? IMO it is the best mid-season show going and probably the best TV show period. It starts back up this Sunday and Monday with it's 4 hour season premier then it's 20 Mondays of fun. So, any more Jack Bauer marks out there besides me?

When life hands Jack Bauer lemons, he doesn't use them to make lemonade. He uses those lemons to kill terrorists.

I'm not buying Wayne Palmer as POTUS, though. Perhaps it is plausible within the show after what happened to Logan (Wayne is in the opposite party) but I think they'll probably end up not explaining it because it would be too difficult.

Just like the other seasons.....there will be quite a bit of time between "real" time. I'm sure they'll explain it as he won the popular vote because of Americans support for his assassinated brother knowing that he was killed by the previous current Presidential staff....think about it.....if Bush had Clinton off'd, Bush removed from office, and th eVP takes over, do you think the public next go around is going to support that party.....easy to write it in to the script....And I love how they are brining back the "bluetooth" gang. Looks like Jack gets a FREE card to go hunt them down and kill them. This is going to be GREAT season.......

I've never been interested in the show but the commercials make it look like he has some huge adventure EVERY day that he always seems to survive.

Does he ever sleep? Like in the "Lost Boys" or something?

Each "day" in 24 is separated from the previous day by a large number of normal, regular days. A 24 day, however, is a day where the fit hits the shan. Then, Jack Bauer tortures the shan to find out where the fit is and stop it from committing further terrorist acts.

Does he ever sleep? Like in the "Lost Boys" or something?
Jack Bauer has the stamina of three or four mountain yaks, but I assume that he sleeps normally on days when he's not killing terrorists.

Remember, there's a light at the end of the tunnel, but you have to get by Jack Bauer first.

It's a great show. The thing that is the most unrealistic to me, though I am willing to let them slide on this one, is how they can drive all over L.A. and still do all they do in an hour. In real time you would be sitting on the freeway for an hour just to get 10-20 miles down the road.

And don't they ever stop for lunch or dinner? I can understand going without sleep, but you have to eat and take a dump occassionally.

"Jack Bauer doesn't need to eat, sleep, or use the bathroom because his organs are afraid of making him angry."

Found that in a list of Jack Bauer "facts" here (http://www.notrly.com/jackbauer/index.php?topthirty).

Some favorites:

"Once, someone tried to tell Jack Bauer a "knock knock" joke. Jack Bauer found out who was there, who they worked for, and where the goddamned bomb was."

"Jack Bauer once forgot where he put his keys. He then spent the next half-hour torturing himself until he gave up the location of the keys."

"Jack Bauer is the only human in the world with the ability to make Chloe O'Brien drop the personality disorder and patch him through."

"When Jack Bauer goes to the airport and the metal detector doesn't go off, security gives him a gun."

"Jack Bauer doesn't have a firewall on his PC. He has a Bauerwall. It's basically just a JPEG of Jack Bauer. No virus has ever attacked Jack Bauer's PC. Ever."

"If it tastes like chicken, looks like chicken, and feels like chicken, but Jack Bauer says its beef. Then it's flipping beef."

"Jack Bauer could strangle you with a cordless phone."

"In order to control illegal immigration in the United States, the president installed cardboard cutouts of Jack Bauer along the US/Mexico border."

The blast only covered a radius of a half a mile so the EMP didn't make it to Jack. As for the show knowing what EMP's are, season 4 had an EMP weapon that knocked power out for several city blocks.

I think he's going to hunt down Sylar from HEROES and beat that ability out of him. It seems inevitable.

Let's review Day 6 so far. In the past 4 hours we've learned:

- Being the brother of an assassinated former (but popular) president makes it easier to become president yourself.

- Peter McNichol is especially annoying in whatever role he plays - and it's excellent. No one plays annoying better.

- President Palmer's sister is a liberal.

- There are people at CTU with personality issues even deeper than Chloe's.

- Chloe loves Jack Bauer (I'm fairly certain of this).

- Buchanan has a thing for government intelligence chicks.

In the past 4 hours, Jack Bauer has:

- Been freed by the Chinese government and returned to America...

- ... only to be sacrificed to a terrorist's associate to stop further terrorist attacks by a terrorist.

- Learned that the terrorist's associate is actually the terrorist and the other terrorist doesn't want to be a terrorist anymore and is trying to stop the terrorist, that is, the guy we thought was just a terrorist's associate.

- Bitten the jugular of a captor, killing him, and then spit out the neck flesh he has just chewn out of said captor's neck.

- Enjoyed that.

- Escaped into a sewer.

- Stolen two cars.

- Allied himself with a former terrorist.

- Escaped from a house before it was blown to bits by a missile attack.

- Shown up clearly on satellite.

- Got a free subway ride.

- Kicked a terrorist out of the back of a subway train before the terrorist blew up his vest. (Note that "Allahu Akbar!" was screamed by said terrorist just before this happened in the episode, but in the "Previously on 24" recap this was cut out.)

- Found plans for a nuclear suitcase weapon in the U-Store-It shed that was blown up by another terrorist.

- Stopped Kumar (uh, I mean, "Ahhhhhccckkk-med") from killing a teenager.

- Killed another CTU agent and personal friend.

- Vomited.

- Witnessed a nuclear explosion.

Not bad for four hours. Only 20 hours to go.

Actually, in season 4 what I was referring to was the EMP weapon in the basement of an office building when he was working with his girl Audry's estranged husband. The subsequent nuke was shot out of the sky before Marwan(Imhotep from the Mummy movies) could arm it.(man do I know too much about this show or what?)

For the first point I bolded, Regina King is still a hottie.

As for the 2nd, one major plot hole in Jack's escape. He escaped through a sewer in a car obviously being used by the terrorists all the while using their cell phone but suddenly couldn't remember where he escaped from because he went with Assan to try to tail one of the bad guy's cronies to find out where the bad guy was hiding. Seems Jack was slipping a bit.

OK, sure, but when she started in with the whole "they're just going to throw out the Constitution!" business, I had flashbacks to 2005.

As for the 2nd, one major plot hole in Jack's escape. Seems Jack was slipping a bit.
The car was on a street near where he came out of the sewer/water tunnel into the LA canal system, so there's nothing that says it was definitely the terrorist's car - they had a van when they picked him up.

Awfully convenient that there was a cell phone in the car, and that Jack still knew how to expertly handle that model of cell phone after two years of torture in a Chinese prison.

As for the location of the terrorists, I'm not sure he would know exactly where he was (he had 5 minutes to make his way out, but who says he was going in a straight line, and orientation underground without a compass can be confusing). Also, he overheard the minion telling the main terrorist guy that they had to go, so Jack would know that they are no longer at that location anyway.

Then again, it's a show and plot holes happen. Best not to think about it and just enjoy the ride.

They couldn't wait 5 minutes for the 9pm news to start. Now before you say, but isn't a real kidnapping more important than Jack Bauer saving the world, remember that the woman and child were kidnappped hours and hours before the amber alert. They had all day and night to air that. I got on their internet site and gave them hell for it. I'm still not buying one thing this season:

PRESIDENT WAYNE PALMER

Sorry, but no. I don't buy that a former Chief of Staff would get elected POTUS. Especially since it's only been 2 years since "Day 5", which had President Logan ostensibly on his way to being impeached and removed from office, putting Ray Wise's VP character in as POTUS.

I don't see how Wayne could plausibly have run for office and won - what, did he run on the "my brother was assassinated" platform? Only in Hollywood could such a person get elected POTUS. Nothing against Wayne, but he just doesn't have the political background to get elected to that position.

That would be like a former First Lady being elected POTUS... absolutely preposterous!

So far, Day 6 is clearly sub-par compared to Day 5, which itself was something less than Days 2, 3, and 4.

I agree 100%. Another thing about Wayne is that he doesn't present that air of leadership. David had an air of leadership. Pres. Former state governors get elected to to be POTUS all the time. Former Chiefs of Staff do not. In fact, I would venture to say that no former Chief of Staff has ever been elected to POTUS, at least not in the last century (i.e. during the "modern" era).

ok.....first off...Its a TV show......but yes...I would say it's very plausible that he would become president of the united states....its not just that he was assassinated....He was assassinated by direct/indirect orders of the current standing president...who, by the way, was the opposing party. So think about it....Last years guy was a staunch Democrat.....if the scenario were that Bill Clinton had Bush Sr killed.....the Democratic Party would fold up faster then a soft taco at Taco Bell.......there would be so much outrage by the american public, that you would probably be labeled as unpatriotic if you voted against the republican party....

The thing about this show is this...

1. There's been an insider mole in each season. Me...I betting its the Arab #2 chicky.

2. The Vice President is ALWAYS at odds with the President...Why is this...you think that the Presidential Candidate, would be able to pick a party member who was on the same page as them...

3. jack Baur is the master of torture and will do anything to extract information out of someone. He's shown some leniancy this season in not going all the way as he would have before.....mainly because of what they are suggesting he went through in Chinca......But it's going to be interesting when Jack figures out his dad is one of the masterminds and he as to do the interrogation on him...That's bound to happen at some point...

[QUOTE=Mibrilane #56;253513]Also, he killed Curtis.
QUOTE]

That right there makes him a b**** in my book. Yeah, I said b****. I'm not afraid of Jack. What's he gonna do - come over to my house and start crying on my lawn?

Killing Curtis was total BS. Jack chose to an admitted terrorist mass murderer over Curtis. I say give Jack back to the Chinese.

No, they did not. Jack should have shot the terrorist and then Curtis and Jack could have extracted all the info they needed before Curtis put one between the dude's eyes.

Think about it....How many rimes has Jack "needed someone alive" only to have one of his underlings accidentally kill the dude? Did Jack ever shoot the underling to stop him? No. Did it ever turn out that Jack didn't save the day, even with the guy dead? No. Jack always managed to deal with it. What about when his Dad shot the guy in the chest after they had broken free? No. But he shot Curtis.

Just to keep this going, of course last night there was an attempt on Palmer's life when a bomb exploded. Palmer will undoubtedly survive but will be out of it for a bit. The question is is Assad dead and what will this do to the process Palmer and Assad were trying to accomplish if he is dead?
