Guy from the Pittsburgh paper had some interesting things to say regarding Whisenhunt, Cowher, Grimm, etc.

1. Thinks Whisenhunt can and will succeed out here.
2. Whisenhunt likes the O-line as is, maybe need to add another guy.

3. He can see the possiblity of Grimm coming out here if he doesn't get the Steelers job because the new guy probably wouldn't want to keep the guy he beat out (Grimm) on staff.
4. Does not think Whipple will be coming here as OC
5. Says Whisenhunt told him he'd be surprised at the number of GOOD NAME assistant coaches that have called him and told him they are available.
6. Most interesting thing to me, Steeler ownership was not sad to see Cowher go. Said that there were plenty of champagne glasses klinking when they found out he was leaving.

Pretty good interview from a Pittsburgh guy. Also Whisenhunt will be on Gambo and Ash after the press conference.

I heard the interviews and was impressed. The guy from Pittsburg sounded pretty confident in future sucsess for the Arizona Cardinals with Whisenhunt as head coach.

The new coach also sounded confident, without being over-confident.

Adrian Wilson came on next and sounded relieved to have the new coach in place and also expressed his favor toward keeping Clancy Pendergast in some capacity with the Cardinals.

At this point HOPE is all we have.:Cards logo:

That IS very interesting, and very odd to say the least.

I mean, if they were happy to finally see him resign, then why did he last for 14 years?

Jeez, have a 500 season after winning the SuperBowl and everyone is quick to knife you in the back...

They only thing that i can think of is that now they dont have to pay the guy like 7 mill a year and can pay like 2 mill to the new guy.

Why does THAT matter to Joe Steeler? It's not like they don't already mortgage houses and sell cars to pay for football tickets there...

FWIW:

I heard an interview last week with Ed Bouchette - who wrote this 2004 article for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://forums.azcardinals.com/showthread.php?t=18208) - that there was definitely friction between one of the Rooneys and Cowher.

He named the Rooney but I can't remember which it was. Specifically he said that at the 'farewell' held for Cowher he said goodbye to one and barely acknowledged the other.
