HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans made assistant head coach Mike
Sherman their offensive coordinator and promoted Kyle Shanahan to
quarterbacks coach on Wednesday.

Sherman, the former Green Bay Packers head coach, just finished
his first season with the Texans. He was recently a finalist for
the Arizona Cardinals' head coaching job that went to ex-Steelers
assistant Ken Whisenhunt.

Sherman replaces Troy Calhoun, who became the coach for the Air
Force Academy.

Shanahan, the son of Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, was the
Texans' receivers coach this past season.

Guess he's not landing any HC jobs this season.

Um, isn't that like...a step backwards?

From NFL OC to Air Force coach?

I would rather have the Air Force head coaching position. College head coaching jobs are very cush and they are more forgiving of one's record. He knew he wasn't going anywhere with the Texans and he would have probably been out of a job in a year anyway.

I just think it's funny how Sherman was the assistant head coach. He couldn't get a head coaching job anywhere else so he had to come running home
