View Full Version : NASH - Possibly the best PG ever?
Don't know.. I have been watching Nash play the past three years and have come to the conclusion that he might be one of the best PG in the history of the NBA. I would say that of all the PG's I have personally watched he is number 2 behind only Magic. Here's my short list. I qualify my statement by saying I have only watched since 1980 so my short list includes players only from those years.
1) Magic
2) Nash
3) Thomas
4) Stockton
What do you guys think? How does Nash rank on your list?

I think his play over the last 2.5 years would rank him as one of the top 2/3 of all time for sure, but over his career? He will go down as one of the top 5/6 PGs of all time I think, if the Suns can win the Championship this year.

I admit, I'm not a huge Suns Fan. I like them, but I don't label myself a "fan" just because they aren't my favorite team.
I personally think it's very hard to define one player as the best ever at a position. Despite that, as a fan of the sport, I honestly feel that Steve Nash is in the top 5 all time. When you look at guys like Jerry West, Magic, Stockton, etc.. they are all pretty elite. Those are the players who's game I respect the most of any .. ever.
Steve Nash is right up there with them.
He is without doubt one of the best basketball players of all time. Like I said, they are not "My Team," but you have to give credit where credit is due. A blind monkey can see Steve Nash one of the best ever to lace em up.

Steve Nash is one of the best PGs of all time ... he is definitely in the top 5, but not number 1 (Magic Johnson) ...
I think if the Suns can win a title that will help others to see really how important Nash is to this team ...

They pretty much cover him on Sportscenter any night the Suns play... make that any sports news show.

Nash is not in the top 5. Do you honestly believe he is better than Oscar Robertson, Isiah Thomas, Bob Cousey, John Stocton, or Walt Frazier? Magic is the best so we know Nash ain't better than him. Nash is probably in the top 10. I'll grant you that. But he can't be considered in the top 5 until he at least makes the finals.

Nash does things none of these players could and didnt do.. Now, if Nash had been doing the things he's been doing the past 3 years over his whole career, then yes, he is better than those on your list.. The only thing that seperates them is total length of consistancy.. Magic Johnson, btw, is the best PG ever..

"But your not a fool, are you??"
Nash is certainly better than Thomas, Cousey, Frazier, and Stockton.
