Listening to talk of such on ESPN Radio so I put the question to you guys:
What would you do if YOU caught Barry Bonds' 756th homerun? Would you throw it back, keep it and sell it for the max amount, give it to Barry in exchange for an autograph, picture and game used jersey or ???
Even though hes a Sun Devil I dont like Bonds at all. It would be tough to throw it back because I would really like to have the money and do some good with it, but to throw it back would be such a GREAT statement to Bonds and the world that there are principles here that we care about. Anyways, what would you do HONESTLY???...

Keep it, let it gain history and then sell it.

Well I don't know ANYTHING about baseball to be honest, but if you'd try to sell it how would you prove that it actually is the ball?

Screw Barry Bonds....No Way on this God's Green earth I'm givin ghtat ball to him.....That ball goes on EBAY to the highest bidder with a MASSIVE reserve....He got the record through his use of steroids....I could care less if he gets it....He could care less what anyone else thinks of him....and that includes his teamates......So Barry.....Just know if it happens in Bank One Ballpark and i get the ball back.....if you want it...you're going to pay out you sterioded rich wazzu for it! Aint no picture, game worn jersey, autograph of yours worth a hill of beans to me....

The ball will have certain markings on it. They did that with McGwire when he broke the single season record.
For me, I'M SELLING IT. And fast too. Probably to some bay area fool with lots 'o dough. If he gets indicted after he hits it, the value goes down to nothin. Get rid of it while the topic is hot. If you hang on to it, and it gets revealed he was on 'roids, etc, you'll have to pay someone to take it off your hands....

OK then, even though the chances of him hitting it all the way to Berlin are probably not that high, I would sell it too.
I don't even know the guy, so that would be a no-brainer for me if it is worth a lot. What would I do with a jersey of his or an autograph... Means nothing to me
By the way, with the money I'd probably buy myself some :Cards logo: gear.

I'd just give it back to him, I can't sell memorabilia like that. I wouldn't take anything for it either, his jersey or autograph is worthless to me too. My other option would be to keep it and give it to the Hall of Fame, but I would only do that if they reinstated Pete Rose and enshrined Shoeless Joe Jackson.

I would be most happy to present the ball to Mr "it wasn't me" Bonds in a heap of scraps. Tell him it was in my neighbors dog house and I didn't know he had a dog.

If it happens to occur at BOB this year and I catch it, I'll pocket it and get the hell out the stadium and go home; hit the net and sell it for all I can.
Only an idiot would throw a brick of gold like that back into the outfield.

The interesting thing is IF it DID get thrown back on the field I wonder if the nearest outfielder would have dibbs on it if he actually retrieved it?!!!!!!
That would be bizzare. I can just see the outfielder sticking it in his back pocket (that would be illegal though wouldnt it?). What would he do? Call time out and run it into the dugout and lock it up in his locker or something? Wow, the thing that makes this interesting is that it COULD happen. Unlikely, but if the right fan catches it he/she could possibly just throw it back! I'll tell you what......if they did theyd probably be on every talk show in the country and probably on late night t.v. too! Maybe become famous and get endorsements! How cool would it be to actually reap the benefits and become famous for the guy or gal that actually threw the ball back?......

You guys are trippin. I think Bonds is a cheater and all but I'm not rich enough to throw away a million bucks based on principal. I have responsibilities to my family not to the history of baseball. Screw that, i would sell it and whoever buys it can do whatever they want with it.

I'm not rich at all, I'm a college student. But still, I've got a responsibility as a fan to do what I think is right, and I've had it instilled in me that you don't sell memorabilia. I'd try to give it back to him, but I definitely would not sell it.

Doesn't matter considering it would be just another steroids tainted home run.

Come on...the guys made millions of dollars off the fact he pumped himself full of roids...Had he not roided, he would be no where near this mark. As a Pirate he averaged 25 dingers per year....He moves to san francisco, meets Mr. Balco and goes from that to almost 40 per year. Then they open the new park, specially made for him and he then consistantly averages 50 per year.....Then, last year, he GOES OFF THE JUICE and only tags 26....Hmmm....EEEENTERESTING.......This record is goign to be SO TAINTED by roids that there's NO WAY I'm NOT SELLING IT.....And I hope the winning bidder is someone out of the country who takes the ball to their residence so that it can't be seen by anyone....That ball doesn't deserve to be in Cooperstown.

If I caught that ball, I would give it to ASU to put in the trophy case next to all the other Bonds memorabilia. It means nothing to me, but it may mean something to my alma mater.

Kid, I said I'd only give it to Cooperstown if they agreed to let Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson in the Hall of Fame. That probably wouldn't happen. I couldn't keep it, because it means nothing to me, and I couldn't sell it either because of my stance on any memorabilia. I would never throw a home run back on the field, so my only option would be to return the ball to Bonds.

Agreed!
Plus the fact that an Australia would catch it (ME) the American Press would be pissed that the ball would be out of the country:bibl:

Theres a spot reserved for it in my burn barrel where it will be reduced to ruin akin to the way Mr. Bonds and his cohorts have ruined the integrity of the records books.
And, let me add. I don't even really care about baseball.
I just [censored] hate lying, ceating, [censored] holes.

But baseball didn't exactly do anything about the 'roids until Canseco, now did they?
Baseball people want to protect their 'sacred cow' HR record from Barry because they don't like Barry, not because Barry didn't work for it. There are a lot of unlikeable people in baseball, but this is all an emotional reaction here. Kick out his trainers, drug test him, and if he still hits the HRs against today's pitchers, then stop dogging the guy.

Famous and broke would be more like it. All those pats on the back won't put a dollar in my hand.

The thing is KJ is that Bonds is probably more disliked than any athelete in the U.S.A. I cant think of another that would top him in that department. Theres a reason for it. The guy cheated, he is an incredibly selfish individual and treats people like crap. As much as it pains me to say that about a former Sun Devil, its the truth. The guy is a real jerk. Thats why the outrage over his cheating is at the high pitch its at......
