I think AP will be gone before we pick...... Good news or bad?

They list Shipp as a potential replacement to Brown....as much as I love Shipp, he deserves to start in the NFL. He wont get that opportunity here

I hope we re-sign Shipp as Edge's backup, like Bettis did in Pittsburgh, Shipp should be good in short yardage and red zone. will sve wear and tear on Edge too because Whiz will call a lot of runs.

Adrian Peterson gone before #5 can only be a good thing.

Agreed
If Peterson is going in positions 1 to 4 it can only be to the Lions, and the other 3 teams are likely to pass on Thomas to fill other needs. Even if one desides to go with Thomas that means we are going to have a top notch defencive player falling to us. I do not rate Peterson as top 5 (8/9 maybe), if he is taken there, the quality falling to us improves.

It helps us get Thomas.. so I'm saying Good thing. It increases the chance that when we get to the 5th pick, the BPA will be the exact player we need.

edge is pushing hard for rhodes to come here. I would reather have rhodes over shipp.

I posted this on another thread but I thing our odds of getting thomas just went to 50%. they can go up even more is one of the D linemen
branch, andrson, gaines really has a trumendous pro day or combine.

I think Rhodes would be great as Edge's backup although I am happy with the heavily underrated Marcel Shipp. J.J. I am NOT impressed with at all except for as a kickoff returner.

LINK Please!!!!
I read somewhere that we spend more money at the runningback position then ANY other team in the NFL last year. I don't think we are going to spend huge amounts of money on our running game this comming season. Rhodes will not come cheap, we wont pony up the money. Shipp will sail, we wont be willing to match what he will be offered. We will P/U some forgotten 230 pound bruiser for short yardage, draft a RB in the later rounds and make due with what we have.

I can see Branch and Anderson having great pro/combines they have something to prove. Gaines will be Gaines and solidify his standing.

I don't think Rhodes will happen for us, he'll be too expensive considering our other needs. I would hate to see Shipp leave even though it seems likely.

How about Bush out of Louisville ,in the second round, to back up Edge? He is a bruiser and would complement well.

I like the idea of going after Bush, but I don't know if I'm ready to take a RB in the second, I think we have more pressing needs, but it all depends on how Free Agency goes.

Bush might still be on the board in round 3 at pick 5. His senior year injury could keep him out of the first 2 rounds.

It will be interesting to see if Whiz goes wiith a fullback on in the coming season. This might save Edge some bruising, but if another RB is the answer then a change of pace and style is needed and we may already have that quality on the books.

If he is there in the 3rd I think he'd be a fine pickup if we went Defense in the 2nd.

Despite durability questions and concerns Adrian Petersen is CLEARLY one of the 5 best players in the draft. Just what I think though. He'll go #2 to the Lions or to the Browns. If its Detroit....will Cleveland go with JThomas? If we get Adams or Anderson instead, I CAN LIVE WITH IT.:Cards logo: GO CARDS!
