7. A couple of teams that wanted to make a splash didn't. The Cardinals hoped to make a big splash but they couldn't get a deal with Dockery. The Bucs wanted to land Eric Steinbach and they had a trade for Jake Plummer before he said he was going to retire. Still, they were busy re-signing Mike Alstott, Torrie Cox and Phillip Buchanon along with entertaining fullback Justin Griffith and center Jeremy Newberry
Makes me think that they don't have much confidence in either Duece or Milford Brown. Dockery is a stud G who would be brought in to start. So who is the weak link they think they have at G.

Do we really want to dole out this kind of $$$ for this kind of player .. ???
Redskins guard Derrick Dockery got seven years, $49 million from the Buffalo Bills.

He would have come in and replaced Milford Brown. I think Duece showed alot as a rookie, and played as well or better than Brown every time he was in there. Too bad, but I would rather spend that money on 2 players than 1. Bring in Hood and ***!

Dockery would have been nice. A real solid player. Milford Brown played some Center in high school and college ... maybe they were considering that ... or they just want a deep rotation at OG.

I don't care WHAT they do as long as they DO SOMETHING!!!!! So far, I've got to say this......I'm not impressed with Whisenhunt in the least! Hindsight's 20/20 but.......we should've not let Cam Cameron out of the room without signing a contract! Now we SIT....just like the "Same ole Cardinals" :exclamationmark: :exclamationmark::bag: :bag:

NoHo......I understand that it's only the second day of F/A. I'm just comparing the Community Outreach, the Staff (and Whizzer put one together too, but NOT to these ends)
One thing I DON'T understand is....everyone's clamoring that we need a LT. We need a RT worse than a Left. Matt's Left handed and therefore requires a better RT to protect his backside. The LT is important ONLY if and when we run the ball. IF we can get this line to "Area Block", what we have NOW could get the job done. The Colt's took an AVERAGE O-line and won the Super Bowl with em. Why??????? Because Polian played to the strengths of the team.
I don't know NoHo.....I just get so damned frustrated with em!

WOW......ONE CRITICAL statement about the Cards and all of a sudden I'm "persona non grata"?
Astonishing...............I guess in order to become a member here one must continuously  :toot: :hurray::redtowel: Well, I'm not like that......sure they're my favorite team, but I'm going to call a spade a SHOVEL if it needs to be done. I'm NOT going to play the hurrah game and stick my head in the sand afterwards. If I see something WRONG....I'm saying it!!!! So either ACCEPT it or get over it!!!

Cam Cameron can gladly have the MIA job, let's see him sign Trent Green (and figure out how to protect him!) and figure out what to do with Daunte Culpepper before we give out any coaching awards.
From all indications, Whisenhunt will benefit from Denny's draft prowess and simply plug & play, not overhaul the entire team & coaching staff twice before week 3. No one will be cut getting on the training camp bus. No current o-linemen will be promoted to o-line coach. No former Super Bowl MVPs will be let go because coach thinks they're hurt without seeing them play.
Based on what happened here in the previous coaching era, I'd rather sit and wait.

I've been there, it's not such a bad place if you're right... :)
I'm more concerned about the defensive side of the ball, I believe that the Snowbirds have the offensive plan ready but I have no idea what Clancy will do to upgrade key positions.

The Bills needed this signing because of the whole magahee thing. Basically drew rosenhous said that willis was not running to his full potential because of the o-line, so the bills signed three new guys one of which is dockery. From what I have heard he is young and just starting to come into his own. Am I happy with the contract we gave him no, but that is the trend this offseason. Also I have to laugh at the whole nate clements deal if the 9ers think he is that good they are about 80 million dollars wrong

He could put a clamp on Q. For most teams, that'd be a huge blow....but you have two legit #1 receivers....and the 49ers can afford but one shutdown corner. I'm going to say to not expect any big splashes in FA. The Dockery thing sounds similar to Ryan Pickett last year, where we swung and miss on him and he ended up in GB. The Whiz is new, and he's more interested in seeing what he has before plunking down a big contract when he can't be sure which players are bad because they were unmotivated/poorly coached and which are bad because they're just....well....BAD.
Oh, you don't want to be a Carp fan....http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/images/smilies/squish.gif
'Cause we squish 'em all the time. Cumulative score vs. the 'Phish last year....Bills: 37 'Phish: 6
HAHA, YES! It worked!

I'm fine without the big splash. Last year's big splash had me ready to go punch a wall. I'd rather bring in a couple guys who add quality depth than one flashy name.

According to "Adam Schefter" of the "NFL Channel".....the second to the WORST LT in the League "(Robert Gallery being the WORST) is going to get a HUGE PAYDAY himself.....who was he talking about....none other than......Leonard Davis....Oh I totally agree that doing without the above distractions like Denny did SHOULD account for at least one or two more wins. The point I'm making is....the positions we have to FILL are GLARING positions and ones that we in NO WAY have a player that can step in there and instantly make us better. Those types of Free Agents are on the market NOW......Not like Denny used to say...."...we'll see the GOOD F/A's at the "Cutdown" point of the season...There's SO MANY F/A's out there that could INSTANTLY make us contenders.....Denver has 5 visits scheduled for this weekend! yet still we sit. I don't know why I'm even making a statement about this. I should just type it and on this date EVERY YEAR, it'll pop up and STILL pertain to the Cards! I LOVE the Cards....however being a Cards fan is THE Hardest thing I've EVER done!!!

I wouldn't say put a clamp on Q, but it will be tougher for him to get open this season. Like I said before nate is a great corner but he is not as smart on the field as samuel form the pats or champ bailey. He may learn to be field smarter in time, but for right now him getting an 80 million dollar contract is unjustified.

NightHawk.....I'm 100% in agreement with you. Where we seem to stray from one another is.....are there any F/A's that could INSTANTLY help your team? Oh yeah........there they are for the taking. Address your weaknesses by addition. For instance Dielman could really help us out like NOW. The one that I REALLY wanted was Adalius Thomas.....(now THAT'S a MAN'S man). He's EXTREMELY versatile and could help our Defensive line tremendously! In a 4-3 he's able to put that hand down and be dominating. In a 3-4 he's able to Stand-up so he's REALLY able to wreak havoc.
What got me on this roll was the fact that it looks as if the Cardinals are ALREADY making excuses for not being "Active" in the market. Look in the AZ Repulsive..... http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/articles/0303cards0303.html

Well, first, I won't criticize the Republic because I want them to offer me an internship next summer and I don't know if they read this closely.
But, I'm not sure that Thomas is a great fit because we aren't planning to go 3-4 at this point, and he could be simply a product of Baltimore's system. I'm wary because we got burned by Duane Starks. The Falcons were burned by Hartwell. It's tough to figure out. I'd like to see some signings, but I'm willing to be patient.
