When i was watching nfl total access yesterday Adam reported now the falcons have enough fire power b/c of the trade with the texans swapping picks and getting 2 number 2 picks that they have enough ammo to trade up to number 1 to get Calvin Johnson so he can stay at home and team up with Vick if this were to happen most likely Thomas will be gone when we select at 5 what should we do if this happends?

Is Peterson a relative of yours? There's got to be some reason why you're so desperate to get a backup running back for Edge.

I dont see Edge as the future of our team and I dont see us drafdting this high again anytime soon so I hope we grab a franchise running back while we have the chance, with Grimm we should be able to turn a second round Lt into a good starter, and besides now that Denny and his Doghouse are gone I think we may find that we already have a decent Lt in Ross or Gorin.

Self-delusion takes many forms. Saying Ross was not one of Denny's boys is serious sign of trouble with the brain cells. It took Loney 10 games and an 8 game losing streak to convince Denny that Ross had to sit.
Also, students of the draft know many franchise running backs are found in the second or later rounds every year. Terrelle Davis was a sixth rounder.
To take another RB when we only have Ross and Gorin at LT is just ridiculous. Haven't you been playing attention the past few years? Our line has been terrible, and here is a golden opportunity to get the most important piece of that line, a terrific left tackle.

As a matter of fact I have been paying attention these last few years, and I saw a pretty good line at the end of last season, and now with Davis gone i see a chance at an even better line, I would dare to say that we could find a Lt in a later round that can atleast out perform "Big Lazy *****" and as far as the rest of the line we should be good, we needed a bigger Center and we got one, we need a new Lt and we'll get one im just not sure It'll be in the first round.

You don't need Ap see a team like us needs Ap. Edge is a perfectly capable running back who at this time is a proven nfl back. Be smart about it if you want a backup running back there are plenty of good ones who could be gotten in later rounds.

I agree with you on this. I say we get an OT in later rounds. Let's take the best possible player we can get in round 1, a stud like Patrick Willis or Adrian Peterson because they're weapons.

i seen yesterday on path to the draft they said that the texas g/ot justin blalock is a great guard/tackle and could start for the next 10 years. what about him in the 2 round.

I would agree. Blalock fits the part totally, he is a very physical, strong offensive lineman that could play guard or tackle. I would take him in a heartbeat if he slips to the second round.

Trade down no lower than #8 to get Levi Brown and get another pick ... if we go any lower Miami will select him at #9 ....

AP a great talent...definately...but why is no one talking about his durability...the guy has had a serious injury twice in his college career...but when you have a proven NFL RB why would you go after a AP in the draft when he has had injury problems and LT is far more important piece of the puzzle right now.

Adrian Petersons injuries were an ankle sprain and a broken collar bone from a freak accident when diving into the endzone, and neither of those are even remotely career threatening injuries. Evertone sprains there ankle at some point and the collar bone should be fine It's not like he blew out a knee or anything. Also the only OT worthy of the number 5 pick is Joe Thomas if he is gone we shouldn't waste it on a lesser talent, after all we hopefully wont be picking in the top 10 again anytime soon.

AP, from all indications, has the capability of going to the pro bowl 10 times in his career. if he's there at 5, no reason we shouldn't take him. some are saying: 'why take an backup running back', and i reply 'he wont be a backup running back in 2 years. we need help on the line badly, but a lineman is 1/5 of his total position. a rb, when used properly, will touch the ball 30 plays a game. rb is more important than 1 lineman. it's as a group that the o line and d line becomes most important.

I disagree, I'd rather get an offensive or defensive lineman, or even Willis. I just don't want to spend the top pick on a position where we overpaid for a player last year.

I mean geez if anyone can't see that Adrian Peterson is going to be an awesome back in the NFL than they need a new set of glasses. I guess what I am going to do from now on when someone keeps quoting over and over they want Joe Thomas I am going to state, "Is he a relative of yours?" How much he paying you to promote him? Sorry NightHawk but you are usually cool and respected on this board I am just getting tired of the comments on Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson being the only two sure things in this draft in my opinion and I am NOT sold on Joe Thomas as a solid OT in this draft.

True he broke his collarbone in which it will probably never happen again as I haven't heard of too many people breaking their collarbones more than once. I guess the only person that comes to mind that has is Evil Knievel but than again he broke almost every bone in his body at least once. Adrian Peterson broke his collarbone diving in a freak accident if I recall correctly while diving in the endzone or celebrating not really sure. As far as his ankle injuries one might recall that Anquan Boldin was labeled as injury prone coming out of college and that seemed to work pretty good for us so I would take a chance on Adrian Peterson. The dude ******** rushed for OVER 1,000 yards in 7 games last year. That is ******** amazing.

Peterson is a fantastic football player...the biggest fear the few smart Cardinal fans have is that we will not take the bpa at 5. The George Boone era was decades of stupidity --and was always built on need. Thomas is our choice, but if gone and Peterson is there--he is the best value on the table. And this "backup" nonsense shows some of you are not watching the best teams in the modern game today......2 quality backs are becoming the ideal situation---and if we want to play smash mouth and run 35+ times a game--there will be ample carries for both guys. Plus, James is a phenom at blocking and recieving so they could be on the field together alot.
Think like a winner in the 1st round and take the impact guy with the most upside--draft for need later on.
This is exactly why we should have paid for a decent LT like Pashos or Pettigout so we won't be steered into stupidity like all throughout our losing history.

Uugh, isn't that why the Texans passed on Reggie Bush and Vince Young? BPA or trade down, though I think it will be the last time we pick this high in a while and should stay put (of course that is subject to any overwhelming offer we could receive). :Cards logo:

You're right, Drach, that was unfair and unnecessary on my part, I deserved to be called on that. I guess I'm exactly the same way with Calvin Johnson and Adrian Peterson as you are with Joe Thomas. But I shouldn't have posted that, I'm sure he's got valid reasons for liking Peterson, as do I for liking Thomas.
I just don't want to see us spend a pick on a position we don't need filled, and I have my doubts on Peterson because of the injuries. I know they're freak injuries, but something worries me there. But I will say that at least the Peterson talk does make some sense. Even though we don't need a running back, he could still do something to help, so while it's not our best move, it's not horrible IMO.
Johnson, on the other hand, helps nothing, and I want to throw my computer every time I see someone say we should take him and trade him. That's not the point of the draft.

Wasn't really trying to call you out in particular as this has been going on the past few days and is just getting old. I understand what you are saying about Calvin Johnson but that guy is a superstud. If he doesn't go first in this years draft it is a shame because he should go first overall however it looks like Oakland is going to select Jamarcus Russell. If it comes down to the 5th pick and Adrian Peterson is not available I really hope Joe Thomas is gone as well and that we do the smart thing which is to trade down and pick up Levi Brown. Although from a friend of mine who works with the Arizona Cardinals and just happens to work with several athletes for the combine one of them being Gaines Adams and if we don't trade down he would be a huge pick up for us.

If Calvin Johnson is there you have to take him. This team lack speed on offense. Yes our wideouts are good but lets be serious they are possesion receivers and not game breakers. They catch lots of balls but not alot of TD's.

I don't disagree with that analysis of Johnson at all. He'll be a great receiver for someone in this league, but we're set there, so there's no point. Who would you trade down with, Atlanta?

Who would you trade down with, Atlanta?Atlanta would be the only team that you could trade down with and have the best chance of picking up Levi Brown. Levi Brown from what I have seen is ranked as high as 8 on the draft boards so that would give the opportunity to take him. I beginning to think that at the #5 spot that Levi Brown wouldn't be a reach if Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson and Adrian Peterson are all gone by our #5 pick.

Levi and Leron are wanted by teams in the 8 and 9 spot. Neither will fall to 10.
