I am just completely not sold on Levi Brown. For how much I've seen and read up on him, i am still unimpressed. I know he's a solid athlete, w/ long arms, and pretty **** quick for his size, but IDK, when i watch him play, i just see BIG all over again. To me, he just lacks that mean streak that you look for in a O-Lineman, and he's not overly powerful or aggressive, and pretty inconsistant. People also forget that he had knee surgery and he missed some time for that.
Idk, if I'm the only one who thinks this way, ill shut up, but I just see him as a big disappointment for us if we take him w/ the 5th or any first round pick.

Although I am not among them, there are several others here who don't want the team to draft Brown, so you are not alone. I think Grimm knows Brown's flaws are easily fixed, having to do mainly with footwork, and he fits wwhat they want in a tackle.

I am so glad we have a head coach who knows what he wants in a player at every position, rather than just a tackle. Some tackles would fit, some would not.

Yeah, and hey, if we do draft him, i hope im wrong, and he's a pro-bowl tackle and the leader for our Line for years and years, but from just what I've seen, doesn't look like it to me

You definitely aren't alone and the wife feels stronger about this one than I do - she really thinks Levi Brown is another Leonard Davis. If we do draft him, my hope is that Grimm and Lott can turn him into the player that they think he can be and not the one that we think he will be.

Levi does not back up unless he plans too in pass protection. He is a great power running LT and a good pass protector. He does not have the running speed of JT but is a much more powerfull man. If we are truely going to a power running game He's our boy and I'm sold on that. He will protect matt and Deuce will compliment Levi. i would love to add Blalock and his versitility in the 2nd round and we are set for years even if they don't start this year. The truth is they are rookies and take time to develope as individuals and on the team. JT is no better prepared than Levi for the pros but Levi has played in a power running game better and longer. They knew Penn state was going to run and they ran it anyway just like the steelers. That is the best thing we can do for our passing game. i'm sold on Levi but am resigned to JT if he's there at #5 because great also but not a better fit for power running game size and power wise. We are building our offense from the outside in because LD left and baby were there.

actually Brown is just as quick as Thomas, maybe if they were having a race Thomas would win but since when do O-linemen run straight lines

the only thing i have against Brown is that he isn't Thomas, he is a better run blocker than Thomas but not up to Thomas' level in pass blocking, so pick your pois ion

in Grimm we trust

Actually, most pundits agree that Brown has a meaner streak than Thomas.

at the top of his meaness he's suppose to be meaner than hell but they say his meaness takes plays off but who could be mean every single play beside Conrad Dobbler and mean Joe green. I'de love to see him reach across the line and eat linebackers.

You must really dislike Thomas if you're not sold on Brown because of his knee surgery and lack of a mean streak.

A couple of correction points here. First of all, Brown's "mean" streak is much greater then Thomas'. He was a captain of the Penn State team. He has very strong leadership abilities. Any players from other teams that tried fight or bully their players. They would be seeing Brown in their face very quickly. Another point about Brown's quickness, I posted a thread called "LT numbers" a few days ago. In the short shuttle and three cone drills Brown's numbers were exactly the same and in one of them better. LT are not out there running forty yard dashes very often. All the work is done inside the box and in the shorter 2nd level blocking.

I don't have a problem with Brown or Thomas, I think they will get the job done. If the coaches want Brown, then take him and be done with it. I am sick and tired of watching RB,s having to dodge 2 people just to get back to the LOS. My plan is simple, take the OT at 5, one or both will be there, and both would be a solid pick IMHO, then take our 3rd pick this year and 6th next year and get Faneca, trade down a few spots in the 2nd and get the third rounder back. Now we have JT or LB at LT, Faneca at LG, Leckey or Johnson at C, Deuce at RG, and move Wells back to RT, we just might be on to something. I know, what about LB, and CB, and DE? We would get Faneca for trading down in the second round and would still have a pick there to tighten up other positions. Last year, we took our medicine and got our QB, this year lets fix the &**^&* OL.

I want Brown or Thomas.. whoever Grimm thinks can help us more.

My personal preference is Brown, because I have heard he is one of the meanest Tackles available. Levi Brown is not a nice quiet man, I don't know where you get that from.

As long as we don't take "Hurt All Day" Peterson, Calvin Johnson, or a QB.. I'm not gonna complain.

MY pipe dream would be to trade with New England.. get the 24th and 28th.. and anything else..

With those pick up:

24.. Timmons OLB From FSU
28.. Griffith CB from Texas

Most people would prolly think i am crazy.. But both those guys really impressed me and would bolster 2 weakness in defense as both could easily start Game 1 of their NFL careers.

Do you mean Griffin from Texas?

If so, he's a safety, not a CB.

Aaron Ross is the CB from Texas.

L Brown will probably be a good tackle......but if picked at #5, we will have reached and wasted precious value that will make other teams chortle AGAIN at this pitiful franchise that historically underachieves. The 5th pick is gold, and the bpa is not not not L Brown---plus we would then overpay the guy who belongs at pick 10 or lower.
If we pick Brown, my guess is we will be right back here at pick 2 to 8 next year, because we insist on being a joke.
1 Thomas
2 Peterson
3 Adams
4 Even Landry will be a much better value than Brown.
If you have to have L Brown......do the deal with Pittsburg getting Faneca and swaps #1s to 15----then take L Brown because he will be there.
