Travarous Bain (CB, 6'0", 175lbs., 40-4.48) http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/bain_travarous
Matt Trannon (WR, 6'6", 235lbs., 40-4.57) http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/trannon_matt

I am SO EXCITED we have Bain and Trannon on this squad. These UDFA's have the potential to become superstars in this league, I'm talking Pro-Bowlers.

Bain has spectacular potential as a CB. He originally went to the U, Miami, FL.., but because he had to play behind Antrel Rolle and Kelly Jennings both 1st Rd. picks, Bain transfered to Hampton Univ. He is an excellent cover CB, his problem is he lacks the desire to tackle, and tackling is exactly that, the desire to do so. If Rolle and our coaching staff could light a fire under this kid and make him an aggressive tackler we could be looking at another Miami bred superstar. Experts have compared Bain to Antonio Cromartie, the CB taken by the S.D. Chargers last year, and I believe that's fair, because Cromartie is a good player and only getting better. I believe Bain has the potential to be better.. Very exciting player..

Trannon gives Whisenhunt the threat he had of Plaxico Burress with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's wild IMO how similar the two are, body type, excellent leaping ability, exceptional hands, IMO they also share some of the same weaknesses, they're even both #17. Trannon has the potential to be our #3 WR, especially if we decide to cut ties with B.J. down the road, which is a strong possibility. Trannon could very well be another "Marques Colston". The combination of Boldin, Fitzgerald, and Trannon would be unstoppable even unreal. Trannon also has the ability to gain some weight and make a position change to an H-Back type hybrid. Very exciting.. (Good article on Matt Trannon http://msuspartans.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/090905aaa.html )

Hope both of these guys show they're true abilities in Trainning Camp and are able to make this team. They will do well somewhere, and I hope we're smart enough to keep them on our roster. Work hard Bain and Trannon and good things will happen! DO NOT CUT BAIN OR TRANNON!

No offense dude, but this is insane. You try to make them look like hall of famers even though they went undrafted. Practice squad material.

If they are this good, there should be no worries of them getting cut, eh?

or worries of not getting into Canton, OH for that matter :Cards logo:

How is he attempting to make them look like HOFers ?

He said they have the potential to be NFL superstars. We could say that about any player as a rookie in the league whether it's the #1 overall draft pick or an UDRFA.

Im with you Coop, I think they both have a VERY good chance at making the team.

It wouldn't be insane to see depth like this at the respective positions :

CB : Rolle, Hood, Green, Bain. Although Hunter (another UDRFA from last year) looks like he has made some strides and IMO is his only competition for that final spot in the rotation. If we take 5 CB's into the season then obviously that enhances Bain and Hunters chances.

WR : Boldin, Fitz, BJ, McCoy (if healthy), Trannon, Breaston

And that's obviously okay. Whatever, it's just insane to me, that's all. I don't even expect them to make our team. Bain might be a candidate for the practice squad but that's about it. We will see.

I understand.

So who do you think has the best shot at making the roster at the CB position ? Give me your 4 or 5 candidates with the best shot in your opinion.

:computer: Man I hope so, that would onl be good for the Cards... But it might be a little early to start hyping up UDFA's, training camp hasn't even started yet.... Heck, I'm still waiting for Ernest Shazor to do all the things people said he would do.

We've got:

Rolle
Hood
Green

Two or maybe three spots left. I think Ralph Brown and Matt Ware could make it. We will probably pick up another veteran cornerback in the next couple of weeks as well. :crossfingers:

Oliver's not out of the question either. I'm not concerned with the salary cap aspect. That can always be managed.

Actually those two players were two that I was hoping that the Bills would draft. Trannon is a HUGE target and would be very effective in the red-zone.

Travarous Bain is an athlete that I've read numerous good things about. I was hoping with our depleted CB core that we could bring him in after the draft but...oh well.

I really hope that one, if not both of them make the Cardinal's roster.

I was very surprised that Bain didn't get drafted, just as I was last year when Darrell Hunter was not drafted. In both cases, they have a history of not being very good tacklers. With the spread of cover-2 defenses, corners have to be able to tackle just as much as they have to be able to cover, so I guess it really isn't that surprising after all.

I have heard rumors Hunter has greatly improved as a tackler, but his biggest problem was mental. Like Arrington, he didn't like contact. But when that changes, the guy still has to then learn the techniques of good tackling, so I don't look for Hunter to do much this year. Now next year he could be real good. So maybe in two years either Bain or Hunter will be starting.

Comparing Trannon to Burress seems a BIG stretch to me, pun intended. I don't think Trannon dominated in college the way Burress did. When a guy has the talent but doesn't produce, that is why he goes undrafted.

They need to produce in training camp to smell the practice squad. Breaston was drafted over him by us so our coaches think he's got a better chance don't they, or maybe they thought other would draft Breaston and he wouldn't slip-- NAAA BS 0I think we'll have keepers on the practice squad this year not even potentials are going to make it. Our final 53 is competative down to the wire, so this is what it feels like?
