From Kent Somers' blog:

It's raining

An afternoon thunderstorm has prompted coach Ken Whisenhunt to delay the afternoon practice 30 minutes, to 3:30.

It's supposed to be the team's first workout in full pads, so it's an important session. The Cardinals don't want to practice inside the Skydome unless they absolutely have to. If the Cardinals move inside, it will be a light workout similar to a walk-through.

Because of the artificial turf, the Cardinals don't want to have a full-speed, full-contact drill inside.

It's questionable if they'll be able to go in 30 minutes. There's a steady rain falling now as I look out the window of my hotel, which is near campus.

I wonder if it has to do more with the potential of lightning than the actual rain? Also, if they did practice with it drenching, I would assume the chances of injury are way higher.

Just my thoughts.

do the coaches film practice to see where mistaks are being made? If so the rain may make it hard to see film

It is because the sloppy field conditions make it easier to get injured. Thats why they won't full on practice on the turf in the SkyDome. If you ask me, the Cards really need to find a new place to hold camp. Every year the monsoon gives them fits in Flag. They need a place with lower rainfall or with a proper indoor field.

Yes they do and no it wouldn't unless it's an horrific storm.

The injury thing is the biggest thing. There's no reason to risk injury at this point to get an extra rain practice in. Had there been a specific opponent they were prepping for and a great possibility of rain for that game you'd see the practice still be outdoors to get used to it.
