By half time the game is over for the starters. 0-4? well did we not play SD tough? They are considered to be in the running for a SB this year. As for the DEV game do you really think a starter is going to ball out and risk their career on a preseason game right before the start of another season?

did you notice LT was dressed in blue sweats? 5'6 180lb darren sproles made our defense look foolish. just ask terrence holt. there's reason to be concerned.

I am guessing that at least half of the people on this message board who say the preseason record doesn't matter (since we are 0-4), would be the same people pointing out our record and how important it is that we won in the preseason if we were 3-1 or 4-0. Just a guess but I bet it's true.:cardinals:

as for me i dont think the record is important but I say the same thing when we had good records in the preseason.

A voice of reason. Different coaches look at winning/losing in preseason differently. Whiz just doesn't seem to think it's all that important. Otherwise, he would have changed some defensive schemes to stop or at least slow down the other teams. It looked to me like he simply wanted to see how players performed in one-on-one situations, so he didn't give them any help.

If it continues to happen in the regular season, we have reason to be critical. I, for one, am willing to wait and see what happens in regular season before I get too excited.

By the way, Joe Gibbs (who was an influence on Whiz) has the philosophy that preseason does not matter except for evaluation purposes and you don't play the game to win, you play the game to evaluate players in different situations.

I don't think the win loss record is important but taking care of the fundamentals like blocking and tackling are important. Most importantly you want to avoid injuries. I would like to see the first team Offense move the ball with some consistancy while they are in and I would like to see the first defense force some three and outs.

I give the D- for the preseason. Good thing that the preseason doesn't count.

Preseason means nothing. We used it, obviously, to only evaluate talent. Whis already said we did things we wouldn't do in a real game to see how players responded in a real situation.

It was evaluation, nothing more. Fourth and one, go for it in FG range. 3rd and 13, run the ball 8 yards from FG range. All a test of how the guys respond in certain situations.

I like that style of preseaon play. Let's see who we have and what they can do. Hell, in the Denver game we threw it two times on the goalline, but I expect us to run it twice and throw one. But whis wanted to see Larry on the toss up and whether Pope could grab the ball in the endzone with coverage...both plays the ball hit the guys in the hands and could have been TDs.

I don't care a bit about Pre-Season. We've been 4-0 in preseason before, what did that get us?

Offense move the ball well? Check. Defense force three and outs...fail. Well, at least we got one thing right...we played SD to a tie (bad call on Green's INT). I liked the way we played that game, which was the most accurate view of how we will attack defenses and defend of all the preseason games.

I don't put much faith in our pre-season record, but I will say after watching the pre-season games we have much to worry about. The starting defense scares me to death. I like out offense, but I don't know about going into the season with the we have to score 40 point a game in order to win mentality. I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like this is going to be another long season.

According to SportingNews.com, usatoday.com and Andrew Bagnato, AP Sports Writer. They are all reporting that Francisco whiffed on that tackle.:sarcasmalert:

That is quite a feat to accomplish as he was standing on the sideline.

Last Saturday at Arizona, he faked safety Aaron Francisco to the turf and sprinted into the end zone on a 19-yard run.

The second drive ended in a 19-yard burst up the middle by Darren Sproles, who faked safety Aaron Francisco to the turf and sprinted into the end zone.
