Baby mamas bear down on Briggs
COURT | 1 close to settling claim, 2nd says he's the dad, 3rd reported living with him

May 15, 2008
BY STEVE PATTERSON Staff Reporter

Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs is close to settling a high-profile paternity claim filed against him, but his baby mama drama may just be starting.

In court Wednesday, Briggs' ex-girlfriend Brittini Tribbett, 21, again pleaded for Briggs to provide adequate emotional and financial support for their baby girl, while another pregnant woman stood by, listening to talk of how she's set to deliver a Briggs baby.

Briggs, 27, wasn't in court. He is living in Arizona with yet another woman who recently gave birth to another daughter of Briggs, those involved in the case alleged.

Tribbett's attorney, Enrico Mirabelli, argued that in a sworn deposition, Briggs denied knowing Yesenaya Toledo, a 20-year-old Chicago woman due to deliver a baby this summer.

But, Mirabelli charged, Briggs is providing Toledo with cash, and Mirabelli said he wants perjury charges to be considered against Briggs for denying he knows Toledo. Mirabelli said he mispronounced Toledo's first name during the deposition, leading Briggs to say he didn't know that person.

Mirabelli said financial support for Toledo, along with having another woman and her baby living with him in Arizona, raise questions about the amount Briggs, who makes $7.5 million a year, is able to provide.

Briggs' attorney, Patrick T. Ryan, said the sides were close to settling their dispute. He called Mirabelli "desperate" while "attempting to harass Mr. Briggs" by raising "allegations that may not even be relevant."

Still, both attorneys said they are close to reaching a confidential settlement. Toledo declined comment.

You want to bet that the haters will be here in a minute trashing our own young QB for having a child out of wedlock? Never mind that it is with his college sweetheart and a serious relationship, or that he flys home every week to see his son, or that he fought for more visitation and paid child support from day one.....

I hope Lance is learning something from this experience. But right now, he's just another knucklehead with more dollars than sense.

well now I understand why he had the issues with the bears franchise tagging him. He's gotta support his family and when he's trying to keep up with Shawn Kemp and Evander Holifield he needs a long term contract...

Exactly. Shawn Kemp did the same thing when he left SEA for CLE, and for the exact same reason.

Could this story have something to do with why he took less then market value to stay with the Bears?? The less money he makes...the less he'll have to shell out to the mothers of his kids. If he went out and signed a deal bigger then pace, he may not have seen an extra dime since most of it would probably go to the moms. Could have been a tactical play on his part...

possibly but reality may have also kicked in and he realized that his value wasn't as much he perceived it to be.

yet, calvin pace value was?

Let's see. A whiney lb who does nothing without massive DT help and offensive focus on another LB versus a guy who has done a lil more with less help surrounding him...

Being as I am a mathematical genius let me put this in it's proper perpespective:
Condom=$2.00
Child support=$2,000,000.00
Making an a-s of myself in public=Priceless.
