View Full Version : Old School Cardinals Family
Deep pride I feel today. My family has been following the Cardinals since 1947, with my Dad seeing the Cards that year beat the Bears on route to the Championship against the Eagles. Having been born a Cards fan, I sometimes wondered if it was a cruel joke, but throughout my life I would be one of a few... wearing Cards gear in the middle of places like the Vet in Philly, watching them play the Vikings in Minnie and seeing them lose at Giants stadium and Buffalo. Then the myriad of home losses against Philly at Sun Devil Stadium and again last year against the Panthers... to name a few of the places I've seen this team play and lose. Years of sitting in a sports bar, the only Cardinal fan, with amused fans of other teams staring at me as if I was circus freak. I never thought we'd have a home of our own until I walked into the new stadium and was awestruck that this franchise could live in something so spectacular. And now we're NFC West Champs... I wish my Pop was alive to have seen it. Maybe he had a hand in helping from where he is now. NFC West Champs Pop!!! Semper Fi...

I'm so happy that you are able to enjoy being a Cards fan, it has taken quite awhile to feel rewarded but I think that the organization and team are on the right track. Thanks for posting an enjoyable to read message.

Congrats Tucc...you earned this pal....we ALL did...with years of pain rewarded...let's keep it going...
Thank you... it's only through the pain and anguish that you truly appreciate the victory that much more. I should know, I'm a New York Rangers fan and when they finally won the Stanley Cup it was near a religious experience. When the Cardinals finally win it all, it will be one of the biggest stories in sports history because of where we've been and what it took to get that far.
So there will always be a band of rebels, defiant, in NY Giants country rooting for the Cardinals!!!

I feel your pain, bro. Try living in Dallas your whole life and being a Cards fan since the early 70's. Nearly half my wardrobe is Cards gear and I have always worn it around town and been looked at and laughed at. The company I work for (20 years) is the biggest sponsor to the Cowpies. The 1998 playoff game here was a great day, but I see better things ahead. One of these days the laughing and heckling will come back to haunt our abusers. Hold your head up high and be proud, for their is a big bird rising in the desert!!!

I feel like I'm replying to Yoda, the Cardinal Master.... I bow down in homage to your devotion and pain. In comparison to you, I feel like a rookie, being a fan since 1974. I can only imagine the joy, you felt, this past, Sunday... I'm humbled.....
One of my friends from work (a 49ers fan) told me, when he saw the Cardinals score, he knew "it was time."
I believe it is "TIME"... Let's Go!!!!!!!

YOU being a Cards fan rookie, I have only been paying attention to football for 10 years, and the Cards around 1999 or 2000. :ha: And yet these eight years have been enough for me, I feel like I am 30, and im only 17! :cardinals: :Cards logo:

Tucc, I know what you mean, being from the South Side of Chicago, my Dad being a Cards fan from before the war and him taking me to Comiskey Park for the first time to see a Cardinal game in 1952. It's been a long trip but, like you said so perfectly, I think both your Dad and mine were sitting together (my Dad with a shot-&-a-beer) tearing up at the same time with the win. What a day----they were truly with us.
