From what I remember after the 2006 season. Everyone is making a big deal about whisenhunt and grimm not gettting the job in pittsburgh. I remember whisenhunt taking the job in arizona before they figured out the head coaching job in steel town. From all the comments I heard that year whisenhunt took the job here because he didn't want to lose his chance at a head coaching job thats why he took the job here and after tomlin got the job. Then whiz offered the job to grimm. Prove me wrong, but thats what I remember.

Whiz talk the job here before the Head Coach decision for the Steelers was finalized. However, it is accepted that he already new at that time that he was out of the running for the Steelers post. Russ Grimm may also have been out of the running, but was still, officially a condidate until Tomlin's hire. When Tomlin's hire became official, Whiz offered Grim the position at Az. Michael Silver reported this on Yahoo last year and intimated the same again in a more recent post.

Thing is the coaching worked out for the best for both teams, Both in there 2nd years took there teams to the superbowl.

Tomlin had a superbowl roster with some added players he picked up and drafted.

Whiz took a team who was terrible for years with some exceptions and turned them into average last year to NFC champions this year.

Both are impressive and both are in the right spots.


All the media hype about Whiz being mad is BS, He has a HoF QB in Warner the leagues receiver duo and 2 solid Backs in Hightower and Edge.

Then he has a young defense on the rise showing there true strips in the games that mean the most.

From what I recall at the time Grimm was hired, he was told by the club that he was going to get the head coaching job. Then, according to what I heard on Gambo and Ash or one of those other talk shows, either the league or the owners called the GM and said that they should gibe more consideration to a minority candidate. So they hired Tomlin, and that's when Grimm quit. Of course, that could all be rumor and innuendo.
