Tucsonan finally rewarded for loyalty to Cardinals

Tucsonan Dustin Holmes' game-day routine is typically planned to the minute.
Seven hours before kickoff, Holmes — an Arizona Cardinals season-ticket holder and superfan — leaves his Northwest Side home with his 9-year-old twin boys, Austin and Dylan.
They arrive at University of Phoenix Stadium just as the parking lots open, giving them four hours of unadulterated tailgate time.

Then it's off to Section 144, Row 1, to watch the game.

Holmes will have a different perspective for Sunday's Super Bowl between the Cardinals and the Steelers.
The 37-year-old Honeywell engineer will witness the biggest game in Cardinals history with his dad. Holmes paid $2,000 for game tickets — and a little less in airfare to Tampa, Fla. — but was prepared to shell out more.
He's that committed.

Three reasons Holmes loves the Cardinals:
1. The players have character.
"We don't have a Terrell Owens or Pacman Jones. We don't have guys who shoot themselves in the leg.
"Larry Fitzgerald is somebody my kids can look up to."

2. The coaching staff. "I love Coach Whiz. Trying to get everyone to follow a plan is hard, especially when you've got 53 guys to look after. But Coach Whiz has done a great job."

3. Game day! "There's a group of a dozen or so of us that have been tailgating since the Sun Devil Stadium days. It was a fun place to go hang out, but University of Phoenix Stadium is even better.

There's nothing better than getting there, getting the TV going, having a few beverages with your friends and throwing footballs to your kids."
