Or is his career going to be like other "microfracture" players?

I dont think he will ever be the same unfortunately, but I sure hope Im wrong.

I think he'll be fine. He needs to get over the injury both physically and mentally. He looked apprehensive out there for the few games he played in. He probably just came back too early. I really hope he doesn't play in the USA basketball camps. I'll say.. by December he'll be back to his dominate self.

After listening to Andre Wadsworth talk about micro-fracture surgery on XTRA Sports my opinion is very guarded about the possibility of Amare ever being the player he once was. Its just too devestating of a thing to go thru and to expect to be 100% again.

True, but players have been successful after coming back from it. Jason Kidd, for example. Amare is also pretty young. I understand where you're coming from though. Even if he were never to elevate his game back to how it was in the 04-05 season, a 80% or 90% Amare is still pretty **** good.

Anyway, try not to judge him based on how he looked in those 3 games earlier this season. He didn't have chemistry with all his new teammates, nor his teammates with him. His conditioning was bad. And I don't think he was mentally ready. Just the week or so before he had said that he was more unsure than ever if/when he was going to be back this season.

Hope for the best but expect the worst, I guess.

I am praying he will be fine. I am a bit nervous about it though. I voted he would be back to his same old ways.

I think he will struggle for a while, but he will get stronger as the season goes on, and as such, the Suns have a very strong second half and make it to the NBA Finals, and maybe a Championship this year...

I don't think he'll ever be the same. He will still be good (20 ppg, 8 rpg) for career, but not the high 20's average and 30-40 plus point games and 12 plus rebounds like he used to.

That's my opinion, but I HOPE I'M WRONG!!!

As long as they STOP playing him at center he can play to his best potential.

It can either happen two ways Stat makes historical recovery and because player of old to everyones amazement or Stat simply becomes a 16pt and 8rbs a game player.

Had the surgery myself. He's not ever going to be the same.

He'll be a good player, I'm just not sure he will ever be the monster he used to be.

like bell said, hes been out of it for a year, and in the NBA thats ages to a player to be out. just the time out could be making it hard on him, not to mention the surgery and recovery from it.

i'll give it a while, but only time can tell.

Sadly, I don't think he will ever be the same..

I hope I am wrong.. he's a class act and a GREAT player.. I really hope he can overcome this.. but it won't be easy. Watching him play Tuesday night in L.A. he looked like he was afraid to get hurt.

The Suns aren't my #1 team.. but I am pulling for Amare. I just kinda have a bad feeling about it.

I think he is going to get into a zone as the season progresses. I don't think he will be at the level he was before the knee, but this team will start to gel and they will contend in the west. As I recall, they started out slow last season. Go Suns!!!

First of all he's not a class act. Dude has BLACK JESUS tattooed on his neck.

But that is exactly what is going to make him great again. This kid has an ego the size of Cardinal Stadium and he will not accept being 40 or 50 percent. I was at the Grizzlies game on Saturday and trust me, by mid-late season, we are going to see a team that is BUILT AROUND Amare as it should be and we will go into the playoffs with a 9 man rotation instead of a 6 man like last year.

GO SUNS!

Only players I would put on the floor right now is

Steve Nash
Shawn Marion
Kurt Thomas
Raja Bell
Boris Diaw
Leandro Barbosa
Amare Stoudemire
James Jones <-----playing really good on Defense and hustles makes up for a lot of everything else he doesnt do on offfense.
Jalen Rose

Those are the 9 I would play with. IF Marcus Banks does start to gel/mesh with us he also might be good and can help us while Nash is taking his breaks.I seriously haven't seen him step it up. Our deep bench had a chance to prove for some more minutes against the grizzlies and they just didn't take the opportunity to show coach they should get more minute.:garfield:

I agree with you totally.

Banks just needs to stop shooting the ball!!! Honestly, what has gotten into this guy???? He allready had the reputation of being a REALLY BAD SHOOTER before he came here and the suns pretty much said that he was brought in to distribute the ball when Steve is out of the game. Then he comes here and all the sudden he is Starberry and chucking up 15 shots in 10 mins...

Probably why he is now glued to the bench.

totally, on with you. I also think he just needs to realise his role and maybe this new system is hard for him? I am not sure, but whatever it is he needs to step it up or else those 10-15minutes he does get will be cut short. I think he is nothing, but RAW talent at the moment just like leandro was doing to us in the beginning. I think he needs a seperate mentor just like Barbosa has/had. Barbosa is still learning, but has proved he can be a starter on our bench now.:redtowel:

I think he's going to be OK and it's fun to watch him make his comeback during this winning streak. We need to keep updating this thread.

Who was that ***** who suggested trading him and Barbosa for KG last year?:eyes:

I didn't count him out, but thought he'd be a 20 and 8 guy the rest of his career. What's he averaging anyways?

I hope you're wrong too, I think you will be. By playoff time Amare will be averaging 23/4ppg and 10rpg. Next season even stronger.
