Worst Storyline/Angle

OK, we got threads on gimmicks, finishing moves, entrances so how about the worst storylines. There are hundreds of storylines in wrestling. It's how matches are built. Stone Cold vs. McMahon was a great storyline. Andre turning heel was another. But there are many that are not so great. Some down right sucked and some were so distasteful that according to my friends at Wrestlecrap, have earned Gooker of the Year honors. So, here are a couple of mine:

Fake Kane-Before Drew Hankinson became the slow witted Festus, he donned the mask and outfit of the Big Red Machine and tormented Kane. The storyline in the beginning wasn't bad. The old masked mute Kane popping up and confronting the new unmasked talking Kane. Fake Kane would continuously beat down the Real Kane. This led to a match at Vengeance in which Fake Kane got the nod using the Tombstone. Then the next night on RAW, the Real Kane beat the breaks off the Fake Kane, ripped off the mask...and attached wig. And threw Fake Kane out the door. And that was it. End of storyline. Um, wha? And if you think this was Kane's first bad storyline, think again as I give you....

Kane's Burlap Bag;

Kane starts walking to the ring with a small burlap bag which most thought had his old mask inside. In the hopes that he would go back to wearing the mask. We then have the pathetic Mike Adamle tell Kane to tell us what is inside the bag, which turns out to contain Rey's mask.
Kane tells us he 'killed' Rey, only to have Rey on TV the following week, and the end of the storyline. With no explanation as to why he had the mask to begin with.:thumpsdown:

Eddie Guerrero/Rey Mysterio/Dominic-Eddie Guerrero telling Rey that he is the biological father of Dominic. Eddie wanted Dominic back and he drew up court papers to do so. This led to a feud and culminated in a ladder match with the custody papers being the prize. Rey won with help from Eddie's wife(and current RAW GM Vicki) ending the storyline. Shortly thereafter Eddie was found dead in his hotel room. Why do I bring that up? Because it brings us to our next horrible storyline...

Eddie Sploitation-After Rey won the Royal Rumble, an angry Randy Orton(who was eliminated by Rey), challenged Rey to a match for Rey's spot at Wrestlemania. When Rey looked to the heavens for guidance from Eddie, Orton told Rey that Eddie wasn't in Heaven. Eddie was in Hell! This feud included sending out a low rider with no driver. Orton won the lead up match winning Rey's title shot but Teddy Long put Rey in the match anyway making it a triple threat in which Rey won pinning Angle for the title.

As fate would have it, the Eddie/Rey/Dominic angle is being featured on Wrestlecrap this week:

The Kane/Lita/Matt Hardy/Edge Love Quadrangle featuring Snitsky-Wow. Where to begin with this one. IRL, Matt Hardy and Lita(Amy Dumas) were a couple. They were engaged at one point. Lita, if you can remember, used to accompany the Hardyz to the ring and the WWF decided to kayfabe her and Matt's real relationship. Well, after Jeff left the company to smoke weed, Matt began competing as a singles wrestler. He repackaged himself as Matt Hardy: V1 as a heel. He eventually turned face and began a feud with Kane. This led to a match with Lita being the prize. Matt lost and Kane married(kayfabe) Lita. Matt took some time off due to injuries and while he was out of action, Lita began traveling with their mutual friend Edge(Adam Copeland). This didn't work out too well for Matt as Lita ended up sleeping with Edge(this is real and not scripted) which not only ended Lita and Matt's relationship but ended Edge's marriage as well. However, during all of that, the Kane/Lita took a twist as Lita became pregnant(kayfabe) and during an apparent squash match against an unknown Gene Snitsky when Snitsky hit Kane with a chair making him fall on Lita subsequently killing their unborn child(just naming the pregnancy angles could take up an entire page) and turning the distraught Kane into a face overnight and he began feuding with Snitsky. After Kane got his revenge, Lita eventually turned heel and joined forces with Edge(which is why they traveled together). After it was revealed that Lita had slept with Edge, the fans would tear into her with not so nice chants and she and Edge to major heat. Matt was released for his troubles. He eventually came back and had a short program as he would attack Edge by doing run ins from the crowd or attacking him back stage. When he officially returned, Matt gave a "shoot" interview during RAW and demanded a match against Edge which they got at Summerslam when the referee stopped the match because Matt was bleeding too much(this was a first). They had a few more matches each trading wins until Matt lost the loser leaves RAW match and left for Smackdown. Mixing real life with kayfabe never makes for good television.

I remember that angle. The problem with the angle apart from it sucking was the low end talent that was used. Snitsky stunk (Reports have him going to TNA. Suprise, suprise), Kane is useless now and Matt Hardy is and will always be the Marty Janetty of the Hardy Boyz.

That was also the second relationship that Edge has broken up. (Was caught sleeping with Val Venis' wife)

Im a sucker for a hot red-head so I cant say anything bad about Lita.

Here is one angle I was watching today from King of the Ring 1998.

Snow made his return from ECW, and storyline had him trying to get Vince to hire him. Jerry Lawler offers to help, thus booking a Tag Team Match at King of the Ring 98. The match was Too Much V Snow and Head. Clearly it was a handicap match until Too Sexy Brian Christopher grabs a bottle of the shampoo 'Head and Shoulders' attaches it to Head and pins him for the 1,2,3.

Funniest thing was J.R saying at the end of the match. 'That was a first and I know that will be the last time something like this happens'

Stupid thing was even though Al Snow lost he still ended up with a job.

But I think the worst of all time has to be The push that edge has gotten the past 3 years. he just isn't a believable WWE Champion to me. all of those years of him and christian and Gangrel Forming the Brood.. it just touches me wrong I guess.... BOOOOO edge.... you suck!

Really? I think Edge has been deserving of his push for along time. Remember the Brood was 11 years ago and Edge and Christian finished in 2002.
I will admit that i think being a 9 time champion in 4 years is way to much. But he is definatly big name talent now.

D-Lo Makes Terri Miscarry-Now, going after these pregnancy angles is like shooting fish in a barrel which is why I'm bringing this one up. Now a little background, Terri Runnels, the real life former wife of Dustin Runnels aka Goldust. Well, Goldust kicked Marlena(Terri) to the curb so she bounced around a bit and ended up being Val Venis' main squeeze...at least until she got knocked up and he kicked her to the curb and she hooked up with Jacqueline to form Pretty Mean Sisters(get it? PMS). Well, during a match, D-Lo accidentally knocked Terri from the ring apron causing her to miscarry. D-Lo then turned into their slave...until he found out that Terri wasn't actually pregnant. Good fun, eh? So the Attitude Era wasn't all sunshine and puppies.

I think Edge has done a good job and is a great heel. What I don't understand is WWE's hard on to push Jeff Hardy as a headliner when he clearly sucks. His antics in the ring where he always hurts himself are stupid, and he has the interview skills of wet cardboard. They stripped all of Smackdowns talent and put it on RAW in the draft so that they could hand the show over to Hardy. And why? Because the thought of him actually beating out Triple H, Cena, or Batista was just so stupid they put them all on a different show.

Jeff Hardy is a cancer that's making the WWE really suck. Mark my words, he'll beat Edge for the title and a new era of pure suck will begin.

There is alot of talk that Jeff Hardy is again done with wrestling. His contract is up in June and he isnt really interested in re-signing.
So dont expect him to win the belt.

Actually, his re-signing is eminent at last word. The first clue was having him defeat his brother at Backlash after Matt was on a winning streak against him. Speaking of which, Matt is heads and shoulders above Jeff when it comes to charisma. But now he's back to jobber status.

The actual Shane V Test match at Summerslam 99 was a decent match. But the introduction of the sweater wearing Mean Street Posse almost ruined the entire angle. None of them could work, they couldnt get over as bad guys with the crowd and IMO got in the way of a good angle.
