Eight teams played their first pre-season games of the year yesterday. Together they averaged 7.6 penalties for 69 yards. The Cardinals were flagged for only four penalties and the fewest yards at 27. The Patriots had the fewest penalties with two but had a higher total of yards at 34. For comparison, during the Whisenhunt era, the Cardinals had ten penalties for 94 yards in their first pre-season game of 2007 and eight penalties for 70 yards in 2008. I know it is only pre-season, but in my opinion this could be a good trend which is indicative of good coaching.

I think you're right each year this team and coaching staff will be molded more the way he wants it and all the careless mistakes will be fewer and farther between.

What a difference a year makes. Every thread about what to look for in pre-season last year included reducing penalties. I still believe it is critical and was 1/3 of the reason we lost the SB.

Hopefully this means that if we lose a game, its because he were beaten by the other team and not by ourselves.

I think that has to do with coaching stability. When our players leave the huddle now they can think about accomplishing the play instead of trying to remember exactly what the play is.

May Whiz stay in Glendale another 25 yrs!

It's the continuity of the players as much as the coaches. both are important. Now it aint rainbows shooting out our AZ. There was 2 defensive time outs in the first 1/4 to avoid penalties there were 13 Cardinals lining up when AW called the imeout. Were not running off they were setting up.

Whiz was horrible at game and time management before Haley starting calling plays. Grimm is also held accountable as astt HC. I know it's on Davis this time but its on them to make sure it is corrected.
