I rewatched the Cards game against the Steelers and specifically was focusing on the LB's. Mainly started watching Cody Brown. BUT was Pleasently surprised by Will DAVIS. So i backed it up and it became clear to me he was the BEST, overall, Pass rusher we had after the starters left.

Davis, JUST barely missed Getting 3 sacks in less than a half of play. NOW i know, nearly getting 3 sacks is still ZERO sacks.... BUT, that is also 3 QB pressures and hurries. He looked VERY raw, but, given time and some expierience, He has true potential to be dominant out there behind Chike on Pass rushing downs.

Here's the break-down of some of his play.
FIRST... Cody Brown blitzed at 10:57 of the 3rd Quarter ( for those with tivo) Davis wasen't in yet. Brown comes around on a stunt and is Stonewalled by steeler guard no61. The Guard mainly stops him by putting his right arm out , then stops Brown immediately by slinding in front of him. I will come back to this later.

Davis comes into the game at 7:04 left in the 3rd

At 6:28 of the 3rd, on a 3rd and 3 for the steelers,Davis blitzes on a stunt and is hit in his left shoulder by the guard ( except Davis is Blitzing from the other side. BUt the stunt was very similar to Cody brown ) BUT>.. DAVIS ISN'T EVEN FAZED BY IT. He shoots right past the guard and into the grill of steelers QB Dennis Dixon( who looked very good as a prospect for them) Dixon gets the ball out but Davis' blitz forces him to throw early and high. forcing 4th down, on 3rd and short.

4th quarter 12:04 defense comes back on and Davis gets lost a bit on a drop back coverage of Shaun McDonald. The corner jumps on it and covers for his mistake bringing McDonald down after only 4 to 5 yard gain. ( Davis clearly not as comfortable yet in coverage)

9:47 of the 4th qtr, He does a very nice veteran-like move , by simply staying at home on a hand-off. The running back. REDMAN( a prospect the steelers are really high on.) Plants and wants to cut back, yet immediatly sees Davis staying at home and has to cut back to the middle of the line and is shut-down after only a yard or two. Staying at home is a savvy thing to learn because young players are looking , very often, to make plays and overrun the plays leading to big gains by veteran backs.

at 8:57 of the 4th Qtr Davis BLOWS BY Right tackle no77, a Beast that guy. And He and Cody Brown from the other side Crunch Dennis Dixon. Dixon however, completes the pass. That guy looks GOOD ( Dixon )
Again just missing a sack by a Hairs breath. Most non-athletic qb's would have gone down.

at 8:28, No77 of the steelers False starts. Davis is right over him and his speed is forcing this guy to jump.

at 6:26 Davis again BLOWS by no77 and absorbs a chest punch blow by 77. Barely even makes him budge. He then blows by 77 and has Dixon lined up for a knockout sack on 3rd and 15. BUT Dixon abruptly steps up and Just , just gets the ball out of the way while Davis eats grass diving at him. Dixon then ,amazingly , completes the pass for a first down.
U could see Davis was ticked. He knew he missed a golden opportunity.

Now , Davis is RAW, and he looks lost at times in Coverage. BUT, let me tell you. This guy is a STRONG, Natural Pass rusher! Keep an eye on him when he get's into the game this week against the Pass happy Chargers. Overall , i thought, He looked much, much stronger than Cody Brown. Brown is better all-around LB right now. BUT , again to me, Davis looks like the potential star as a pass rusher.:Cards logo: :cardinals: :hero:
