Martz.........
"I think they have a chance to be an elite NFC team. This past season, I thought Kurt played exceptionally well. I thought he played even better the year before, though the team wasn't as good. I think Kurt is playing better than he ever has right now. I think he's playing better than he did even with us when we went to the Super Bowl.
"I think that as you look back at his career and you look at Kurt when this whole thing is done, he does something better than anybody in the league has ever done. He sees things so well and can digest it and make good decisions with accuracy better than anybody I have ever seen. He is truly unusual. I think he's got this year left and if he can stay healthy, the arm feels good, he has defied the odds his whole career, so who is to say he doesn't have this year and another year, anyway?
"I do think they needed a running back bad. I don't know if they've got that guy down there. Time will tell. The offensive line has improved. Defensively, I've always felt like [Arizona] has been really talented on defense. Just a little confused at times. They were weak in the secondary. They have bolstered that now with the young corner that they got last year. This is going to be a strong NFC team, no question about it."

What do you know this guy actually had a good assessment. Maybe he has learned his lesson and has dropped a few notches down the arrogant meter but then again maybe not.

Mikey must be back on his meds.

Who cares what that guy thinks, good or bad.
Martz can take a flying leap and the less I see from him the better.

Let's pray like hell that Martz Madness arrives at another NFC West team in 09!

I think the Rams want him back in St.Louis, to finish Bulger off.

Please. At this point, Martz isn't gonna say *anything* bad about *anybody*.
It's all just window dressing in his attempt to 'soften' his image and get back in the league somehow.
He's no longer relevant. The league moved on years ago. He just hasn't realized it yet.

I find it odd that people still hold a grudge on this guy. Martz has been saying good things about Warner the last few seasons.
The irony is that Warner has let it go and the ones that love him for the good he does, are the ones how are taking this WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too personal.
c'est la vie...

Seriously...I agree...why bash the guy for actually saying something nice AND true about KW...he's one of the best that has played the position...it's possibly Martz' way of saying he was wrong about KW not just being 'part of a good system'...

I think that Kurt, as is his habit, takes the high road when it comes to Mike Martz. But I found it significant, given the large role that Martz has played in Kurt's career, that he was conspicuously absent on the "Homecoming" show that showcased Kurts career. His name wasn't even mentioned. It's not like he wasn't available for the show.

I've never liked Martz. It has nothing to do with Warner, and everything to do with Martz.
Seriously, not everything is about Warner to most people.

One of the most accurate assessments of the cards ive heard this off season, also he's right about warner having a better season 2 years back.

I noticed that too. Actually, I was holding my breath, hoping he wouldn't be mentioned.

I understand that. I never said all people have a grudge on Martz due to Warner. I said that i don't understand the people WHO still hold a grudge. meaning those that do...not that most/all have a grudge. :dontknow:
"I find it odd that people still hold a grudge on this guy"
Notice I didn't say ALL.

Why do you find it odd?
Cause it seems some are taking it too personal. I mean, they talk about it as if Martz did something to them...he didn't. And Warner has stated that what happened in St Louis is not what some people think. He has stated that fans have distorted what has happened there to the point he is tired of talking about it. I cited that interview about 5 months ago on another thread.
In other words, some of his fans have created untruths about his departure and what transpired there.

You make it sound so easy to understand, for anyone that wasn't there to see some of the things with their own eyes. I won't debate it with you, for the simple reason it's been rehashed too many times already. Some of us simply don't like Mike Martz and nothing anyone says, is going to change our minds. Why you can't accept that, is beyond me. People have a right to their own opinions, and there's not one thing odd about it. We're all different, we all see things differently. You have to accept it, and let it go when someone comments on it. :)

Well, it seems you ask about it...didn't you? :)
And since you asked, I obliged.
And I did accept it. I just made an observation that didn't stifle anyone's beliefs or comments, right?
And for me, it is easy. I read Warner's own words. That was enough for me. Unless of course, he was lying about it. j/k

Warner has yet to say anything bad about anyone. No, he's not lying, he's simply not telling the whole story. We'll leave it at that.

theHammer:Yep. I thought that not enough attention was paid to Dick Vermeil, and too much to Martz. Martz may be a great offensive mind, but he's a jerk who plays his quarterbacks even when they've been hurt--I'm talking more than KW here. You just don't do the kind of things that he did to his QB's, Warner and Bulger alike.
They don't call him "Mad Mike" for nothing. It's not necessarily a compliment.

I know that--I definitely wasn't using it as a compliment to him either! :salute: :Cards logo: :cardinals:
I don't think everyone realizes that. ;)
