Yikes (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AhSLD_WWLp4gRieduqMwcphDubYF?slug=ap-chiefs-gailey&prov=ap&type=lgns)

Alienating lots of people, he will either sink or swim, its a risky move.

I dont see the chiefs new FO putting up with his antics for more than 2 seasons. Unless he becomes the 2nd coming of bilicheck.

Yea, I saw this earlier today. I am absolutely amazed that GM's and Owners are totally willing to turn over the keys to a professional football franchise to a first time head coach.

Both KC and Den have lost their minds. It's one thing to hire a first timer, look at Wiz and Mike Tomlin for crying out loud. But they need to be surrounded with experienced guys around them. -ie Grimm, Lebeou, etc.

Veterans who have been there before help too. Probably more. Rothlisberger, Ward, KW, Edge, Boldin.

This is madness. Not only are these guys running these franchises into the ground, but they both traded for career backup QB's. I know Cassel was great last year, but you would have to be insane not to think the offensive talent on that team had a lot to do with that.

And now Cassel is hurt, and Orton may be too. And neither team has a backup QB to speak of.

It's going to be a loooong season for 2 very proud, historically successful franchises.

I find it amusing that this guy got a HC job after being OC for a team with Warner, Fitz, Q, and Breaston. How much of the credit does Haley deserve for that? Then he picks Clancy for DC? This defense was crap the entire time he was DC! I have a feeling Haley's in for a rude awakening.

On that note, I don't see anyone giving San Diego much of a run for the AFC West. :)

No doubt. I think SD will have a bounce back year anyway, but with their very soft division schedule they could be in the running for one of the byes not just a division championship and the home playoff game that goes with it.

I think you're exactly right.

The GM is new too and he and Haley are buddies. I think they're working together to effect change. Not sure it will work, but I think Haley has a long leash. He'll certainly get at least 3 years like Herm Edwards. A 2-14 team can't get much worse. I lived in Dallas when Jimmy Johnson came in. He and smiley changed EVERYTHING and pizzzed EVERYONE off including the fans. THEN they went 1-15 and dominated until about 2 years after Johnson left. I'm not saying Haley is JJ, but to me KC is looking at a similar blow up everything and rebuild from the ground up strategy. The Cowboys advantage was they got the state of Minnesota for Hershel Walker.
