Once again AB is nursing another injury. Unfortunately this has become a recurrent theme with Q and virtually assures neither the Cardinals nor any other team will pay him Fitz like $ when his contract expires . It also means he is unlikely to be traded before next season because we will not be able to cut a deal for a top level player due to other teams' legitimate concerns over an aging player's durability.
Most likely scenario is Q plays out next season(his final contract year ) with the Cards . He will obviously bust his butt and try to avoid the injury report . Even if he is successful in doing so we could slap the franchise tag on him thus depriving him of a long term deal with another club. Thus we get Q for 2 more seasons without breaking the bank long term. At the end of 2 years Q will fade into the sunset with other past their prime receivers while we look to find a number 3 , assuming we can keep Breaston as #2.

Q has been a warrior throughout but his frequent injuries no longer warrants a long term big dollar deal. He missed his opportunity to renegotiate before Fitz redid his deal. He gambled ,but lost and the front office must look forward and try to figure out how to keep our receiving corps at the top of the NFL when Leinart assumes the reins from Kurt.

And when he doesn't because he either hasn't recovered from his sprained ankle or pulls another hamstring?

How can you now love the guy WHEN he plays? That said, he's making his own case to either be traded this off-season or let walk after 2010. I mean too many times he's either out injured or hobbled when he is on the field.

Too bad though, when all 3 wides are healthy it's something to watch.

good point.

So do you think we should trade him for pick(s)?
Let him play out his contract and walk and we get nothing?
Mysteriously find some player that never gets injured, plays at a Pro Bowl level, will play for 8 mill per or less, and his current team wants to get rid of him?

Q is a beast. I want to see him in Cardinal Red forever. Let Dansby walk and throw Q and Stevie some money. Of course I dont think we should pay Q like we did Fitz, but I think we can manage to give him a more than fair raise. :cardinals:

Great Question -I think we should let Dansby walk after this season which saves about 9 mil off salary cap. Get a FA or draft pick to fill his spot at 4-5 per year and use the difference to get a pro bowl caliber OL through FA or the draft. Keep Q next year at his current salary. He will bust his butt because he is in a contract year . If he excels then slap the franchise tag on him and keep him one more year. If he doesn't let him go and sign the best WR available through draft or FA that you can get for 4-5 per year. By this time ML will be our starting QB and Wells will have two years under his belt. Pick up one more OL to improve our running game to at least a respectable level. This not only allows us to improve on both sides of the ball, maintains a high level passing game, and improves our running game without breaking the bank on Q or KD.

I have been all for the front office standing their ground with Q.
But they have been saying all along that if he waited his turn he would get his money. They have said over and over again that the time to re do a contract is with 1 year left.

Well, this off season will be the point where Q has been asked to wait for. He fired his punk agent, he shows up for work, he has ben a great teammate, he plays hard, he has kept the media out of it, and he has been playing underpaid. Q has done everthing the front office has asked him to do.

So this off season the front office needs to stick to their word and either give him a fair contract extension or trade him. It wouldn't be right to make Q play out his current contract after everything they have told him. Legally? Yes. Morally? NO

I love Q just as much as anyone, but I'm just so sick of this year in and year out. Anquan is in his 7th year in the NFL, and only twice (2003, 2006) has he appeared in all 16 games. It's not like he's hurt ALL the time, he usually plays about 12 games a year, but it's enough to frustrate a team that's trying to decide rather or not he's worth the money of an elite WR. Now, to be fair, of the six years previous to this one, Anquan has surpassed 1000 receiving yards 4 times. His 306 yards in 4 games this year puts him well on pace to do it again this year.

I really think people would be more tolerant of the situation if it wasn't for his off season blow up which tarnished his image with a lot of people. I think that's the problem for me anyway. His always nursing injuries combined with his off season tirade has made it hard to continue to like the guy. Anquan is worth more then he makes now, no question, but he's not worth Fitz money.

I'm hoping the Cards can eventually make him happy without breaking the bank on him, but it won't happen until Anquan comes down to earth and realizes that his injury problems lower his value. He's is however, still a very productive receiver and he's a very important part of our offense.

Honestly, I think Q will be moved this offseason. He will get his monster contract somewhere and we will probably get something like a 2 and a 5. Next years draft is STACKED by the way.

Man do I ever LOVE Q.

He isn't worth Fitz money though. Can we let him find out and then offer a loyalty smidge more?

Probably not, so we sadly should consider either letting him play out his contract; which obviously makes the FO look ridiculous. Or trade him for the future.

Hopefully during our second bye week (week 11 against the rams) we can sit breaston and Q and get them healthy to hammer our the rest of the season. Cause I agree that when these 3 are healthy, they are nearly unstoppable.

Boldin had a better game than Larry tonight, something is going on with Fitz..more drops and less separation this year, I know the extra coverage is an issue but he dropped what, 3 passes tonight?

Boldin, crippled, limping ... Is better then most healthy #2's in the league and was one of the top receivers in the game tonight.

The man is all heart.

We should get rid of him....
