As much as many said the Giants game was a "statement game", I would correct that by saying the Panther game was the statement game.
The real character of a team is how they react to a big win or a big loss. We obviously bombed with a total lack of team effort on this one. We obviosly are not an elite team yet, because elite teams do not give up that many turnovers and do not allow those russhing yards, even on a bad day.
Do we have the talent to be an elite team right now? NO! Are we close? YES! With better o-line and run blocking plus one more pass rushing beast, we could be in many more superbowls.
Da Bears game could set the stage for the rest of the season. Do we fall back to a mediocre .500 team, and if we win the division, make the playoffs again as the worst team to do so, AGAIN? There is no excuse with our current talent to keep losing home games, when just last season we were a force with the 12th man.
So why isn't KW throwing jump balls to Fitz like last year? Why don't we platoon to mix things up? Why don't we feed the Bean more? All I know is the Panthers came out and mauled us. If we can't play with intense fire each game like the best teams do, and stop making stupid penalties, then it doesn't matter who is at fault, we deserve to lose.
On the bright side, I believe we are closer than ever to stopping the roller coaster ride of inconsistancy, beating the teams we are supposed to beat, and getting respect as a team to be feared week in and week out. GO BIG RED.
