This team is playing better and better every week. I have Jackson on my fantasy team so I watch them play from time to time and their offense is starting to click. Bulger is playing much better, Jackson is probably the 2nd best back in the league right now behind Johnson and Avery is healthy and burned the Saints for 2 touchdowns yesterday.

If Jackson is able to put 150-200 rushing yards up, DeAngelo Williams style, and take Bulger out of the game.... well we all know what could happen. All of those people who mark Ws and Ls next to games on a schedule might have their apple carts flipped upside down.
I don't even want to imagine what Jackson running at Highsmith will look like, what's the word on Hayes?

This is true. Jackson is running the best I ahve ever seen him do with a suspect supporting cast. Cards cannot take this game lightly.

Thank You!
You are absolutely correct. The receiving corp is improved also. Both Laurent Robinson and Donnie Avery are now healthy and functional. We should approach this game as if the Rams won (which they would have if not for a Saints return TD).
The way the Cards are playing, this should be a blowout......but this is indeed a dangerous division game against an improving, formitable opponent.
I almost hope this is a close game so the Rams are not taken lightly at the end of the season.

The Cardinals should never take a divisional game for granted. This is a very winnable game, we have no excuses. After seeing how they played the Saints we will be ready for a battle. But we won't lose this game, they won't be able to stop our O.

The key to this game will be to get up early on the Rams, like we did on Seatle in the first game.
Get a couple of quick scores and force them away from the ground game.
Jackson is the best back we will have faced this year , and it gets harder from then on with Chris Johnson and Petersen waiting in the wings.
Let's hope Hayes is back soon.

Oh I am taking the Rams extremely lightly. The same crap was said last year after we were what, 4 games on top of the division and St. Louis had won its first 2 games after firing their coach. "OMG LOOK OUT ST LOUIS ARE GUNNA WIN THE WEST!" Thats what a lot of people were saying, even with our 4 game lead. And what did we do? We marched into that dome and beat the snot out of St Louis.
Warner is going to torch them again. Its not even going to be close. We are going to hold Jackson to under 50 yards. Believe it! :rams:

The first few times he did it, probably yes. But now that he's done it before, it's nothing new to beat down the Rams in STL. I think he likes to remind them how good he is, but it's not like he's thumbing his nose at Mike Martz out there.

Jackson will put up some yards, but I will bet that he will also put the ball on the ground. I would have to look back at the stats but that dude almost ALWAYS fumbles in our games. Its like our Defense knows how to prior his hand off the ball. I swear he must have two fumbles against us in his last 4 games. Ill check the stats and get back to you.

I expect the Cards to win, no doubt about it, but the Saints had a couple TO's and ended up winning by 5 points with the Rams working around the Saints 35 when Bulger got picked to end the game. I'm telling you, the Saints game was a primer for the Rams. We go in there all cocky and aren't careful we could lose. It's not like we never turn the ball over.
The Rams had a bye week, knowing when that was over, they'd be playin' the Saints and then us, both games at home.

I dont think the team will go in cocky. They always love the division games.
I as a fan am going in cocky though. The Rams played hard against the Saints. I just dont see them as a team that can maintain a high level of play. I think if we get Hayes and Okeafor back then we can stop Jackson. Also, if Kurt and the gang get us going early and force the Rams to play catch up then it will play to our advantage. Plus it seems Q is as healthy as he has ever been since last season. That is going to open things up for us a lot. Q had a quiet game but put up monster numbers against the Hags yesterday. That allowed Breaston and Fitz to free up. That week off really did wonders for Q. We seem to set the tone on the road this year and if we can do that against the Rams, then I feel very confident.
The Homer in me expects a blowout, though.

You obviously cannot take any game lightly, but.....I live in STL and "get" to watch all their games. The Rams gave it all they had yesterday. This was their game. They will have a HUGE letdown next week. Jackson is awesome yes but Bulger is not improving. He is terrible. His pick in the end zone was horrible, and he missed a wide open Gibson on a big third down. Hw also decides to throw a 4 yard checkdown to Jackson on third down at end of game with no timeouts. Bulger is the reason the Rams suck mostly. So this will be a beatdown, but obviously you can't take anything for granted in the NFL.. I will be there representin/ where are you out of towners gonna be!!

We were given several opportunities, no doubt, but the team is playing lightyears better than earlier this year. Still a good ways to go, but getting there.
Jackson is running his butt off, and whenever the O-line does a decent job, he's gonna get at least 5 yards. Bulger is still on and off, but looks like he's trusting the O-line and WRs more. Donnie Avery has FINALLY stepped up. Robinson is actually out for the year, but Gibson played a heck of a game last week. Burton may be out for a while longer, but he has been good.
On defense, Leonard Little has played well, and Chris Long is making strides, but overall not a consistent pass rush. The run defense has been good most of the time, but can get worn down.
The Cardinals are the best team with the most talent, but both teams have had some slip-ups on defense that could allow quick scores (more of the Rams than the Cards, but the Cards have had some as well). I think the Rams should be able to score some, but won't be able to get to Warner and stop the Cardinals. If the Rams o-line can protect Bulger we could score more in this one, but I don't think we are there just yet.
Still, an interesting game. Can the Cards continue to stay focused and win several consecutive games, or will the Rams who almost beat one of the two undefeated teams in the NFL show up and cause the upset? Looking forward to this game Sunday guys! :salute:

The Rams have played a strong schedule...The combined record of the Rams' first nine opponents: 47-34, for a .580 winning pct. They've seen MIN, IND, and NO in their dome already, and here we come. If you throw in their other home game vs. GB, the opponent win pct. for home games is .871.
Even with 2 games remaining against AZ, the Rams' final 7 games are against teams with a combined 31-32 record, for a .492 winning percentage.
They have some winnable games coming up if they don't screw up.

the rams are playing harder - no question. this game should test our run defense.
the game plan has to be "get up early" get these guys down 21-3 and the rest will be Bulger pics.
however - if we have a slow start and a couple turnovers we could energize this rams team.
anybody know kurt's record in the dome? its unreal. and his passer rating is off the charts.

I'm not underestimating a divisional opponent. These games are always keenly contested. And yes the Rams are improving.
I cant help but think though, that they got that close to the Saints, because the Saints had 3 of their best D players inactive. Had those three started, especially Sharper who has to be in the running for league D MVP, then the Saints O may not have looked so good.

The Saints didn't play with Ellis, and that is just like us playing without Dockett. They also missed Sharper. I hadn't seen a practice report this week but the Rams took their whole bye week and prepared for the Saints. This was like a Super Bowl to them to beat them and get some respect but they aren't going to be worried about us to much. The game is on the road and Kurt seems to play a little better through all 4 quarters in the game. I think we can run the ball on them as the Saints did. What about their secondary? I don't pay much attention to other teams really. lol

Us over Rams by at least 3 scores because whilst the Rams are better than they were at the start of the season, we are much better than we were at the start.
This team is starting to show up every weak, each part of the offense is improving quarter by quarter and our D is starting to take responsibility to heart.
LSH may only get a few returns in this game, but expect one of them to be a long one, it is coming.

I'm telling you, this game is eerily similar to the Carolina game. Yes, I know Carolina is clearly a better team than the Rams, but they beat the Cardinals by 13. If the Rams can squeak by by 2 or 3 that's good enough. Both count as one W in the standings.
Conventional wisdom before the Carolina game said Delhomme whould throw 10 picks and fumble 6 times, and the Cardinals would win 73-3. Whoops, didn't work out that way, didn't it? Williams and Stewart embarrassed the Cardinals defense and Delhomme threw a handful of passes and made none of his usual stupid throws.
So it's the same thing here, if Jackson has 100 yards at halftime and the Rams have some momentum, who knows what might happen if Bulger doesn't have to win the game.
In any event, a mere 3 weeks after Carolina marched into town and embarrassed the Cardinals, I find it a bit much for anyone to be calling a blowout in this one. If the Cardinals have proven one thing, it's that they are **** good at playing down to the competition and laying some serious eggs.

A week after CAR sprung their "A" game on us, they came within a hair of beating a much better NO team and then beat ATL.

OK, let me put it this way:
The Rams suck out loud. Yes they gave the Saints a game but there are mitigating factors. Firstly, the Saints obviously thought all they had to do is throw their helmets on the field and they were going to walk all over the Rams. They found out that the Rams came to play. 2nd, the Saints defense is average at best. They give up on average 115 rushing yards per game and they've given up 20+ points in 7 of their 9 games. The Saints are basically an Arena team in the NFL: they put up a lot of points but they give up a lot of points. They simply flat out outscore you. Believe you me this will come back to haunt them soon.
As for our game with the Rams. I don't sweat this game one iota. They are a divisional opponent so we won't be taking them lightly at all. 2nd, it's an indoor game and their defense is close to the bottom in all categories. Warner is going to be throwing against the #25 passing defense in the league. And our improving running game is going up against the #28 rushing defense. If we don't score 40 points this week I will be greatly disappointed and the only way I see us not scoring 40 is if Whiz does his usual shut down after we get a big lead. The only thing that worries me slightly is our defense has been soft all season as we have nearly the worst passing defense in the league giving up on average 253YPG. But I see this game as a blow out like 40-20 or so.

It would be nice to simply chalk up a W and leave it at that, but I saw the rushing yards we gave up to SEA's who-dat backup RB. Bulger may not have any big-name WRs, but they sure do have Steven Jackson running hard and we need to shut him down, period.
If ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING, happens to slow our offense down, look out...

We didnt have Hayes or Okeafor. If we have them back after a week's rest that they got, then Jackson wont be a factor.
The Cards aint chalking up a W, this is a division rival and the Cards get fired up against division rivals. Cards will come to play. Especially when they hear how everyone thinks Jackson is going to run all over them. This team is going to be super fired up.

That is preparation. We also had key people out. And Forsett snuck up on us. We obviously didn't prepare for him at all and didn't factor him into their game plan. Something tells me that the rushing defense game plan keyed on Jones. We also do well in shutting down feature backs. Carolina was the only other team to run all over us this season. But the key is taking Jackson out of the game. Rest assured if we go up by 2 or 3 scores, Jackson will be a non-factor.

What I meant was that had they sprung their A game on us instead of NO, then we could very easily have been looking at a loss. The game they had against the Saints was an eye-opener, one could argue, since we didn't see that in the Rams...so, our eyes are wide open to teams that, like we're capable of, suddenly rise from the ashes and play like gangbusters...to their maximum potential in a given week.

People who are saying, "THe Rams will not be able to stop our O," may be in for a suprise. The Saints offense is still ranked #1 in the league. They have the most passing and rushing TDs. They barely won in STL.
Arizona will have to play STL with some heart... other wise it might be a long day.
THis game should most definitely be won, but im sure that is what the Saints thought. We might not be so lucky.

From the box score...the only thing that hurt NO was themselves...420 yards, 217 passing, 203 rushing(balance!)...but 3 TO's, and a failure to hold the Rams under 434 total yards. I don't see the Rams repeating this...but who knows.

The rams are 1-4 when Jackson runs for 100 yds this season. I expect he will play well. The Rams defense is just horrible and that should be the difference. The game should go like this last one where it's interesting for about a half and then we should separate. ARZ 38 Stl 17.:cardinals:

Im sure that NO had a lot to do with it. But like i said, they had the #1 offense, and if they underestimate the Rams...we might do the same thing.
For the love of life, go out there and play hard. This is the NFL...where any team can win any sunday.
Another 14-0 deficets are not always going to come out smelling like roses.
I want them to smash the rams early, and win convincingly.

I think he may return one for 50 + yards.

My point was that Rams barely slowed them down...and that TO's, and NOT underestimating anyone, had to do with the game even being as close as it was...no TO's and the game isn't even that close. Bottom line is that TO's will make even bad teams look good because they get to hold onto the ball.

You forgot about the TD the Saints didn't get. Fumble in the endzone.

Firstly, the Saints obviously thought all they had to do is throw their helmets on the field and they were going to walk all over the Rams. They found out that the Rams came to play.
LOL. Substitute "Cardinals" for "Saints" and "Panthers" for "Rams" and this post would have been a solid one here on November 2.
You diagnose the reason the Rams almost beat the Saints, and the reason the Panthers destroyed the Cardinals, and then spend a paragraph opining on how the Cardinals will destroy the Rams. Perhaps that will happen. But if the Cardinals pull another stinker a la the Carolina game we could have a lot of "those darn refs!!" threads here on Monday. I don't think anyone from coaches on down to fans should be dismissing the Cardinals demonstrated ability to lay a stinker. Counterproductive.

It's all about Hayes. He is an unsung hero on our defense. He isn't glamorous or flashy but is a solid tackler and can shed blocks to still make a play.
If Hayes isn't in the middle this weekend Jackson WILL run all over us.

Fiasco,
You are correct. We need Hayes to control Jackson.

It would definitely help there is no doubt about that but I don't see any way the Rams can match firepower with the Cardinals. Even if we get off to a slow start like we did against the Seahawks it isn't going to make much difference In my opinion the Rams are just that bad.

When the Cards destroy the Rams on Sunday and hold Jackson to pedestrian numbers, I am going to make sure all you nervous nellies and debbie doubters eat some crow :cardinals:
The Panthers actually have weapons on offense.
The only weapon the Rams have on their entire team is Jackson.
We have had his number since he started his career. It will be no different on Sunday. The Cardinals are going to jackstomp the Rams.
GUARANTEED!
Dont buy into the "they almost beat the Saints" trap. The Saints didnt even play their best game and had 3 turnovers and still managed to beat the Rams. The Rams played their best game and still managed to fail.
"Omg the Rams are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!" Where was this banter before their Saints game? None of you were singing their praises until an unprepared Saints team came in, played slugglishly, and still managed to beat them. This is a division rival. We have a vested interest in destroying this team. We have a purpose to win this game. It is going to be a slaughter.

Eyeshield,
If the Cards stomp the Rams I will acknowledge my crow eating on the board. After I get back from the game.

lol, its mostly playful banter on my part. Dont sweat it. And I understand why some are guarded in making any predictions and I respect that, but I just feel extremely confident for this game. We just seem to love to beat the Rams by big margins for the 2 seasons or so.

lol I'm not even counting the Rams to get as close at 14 points in this game by the middle of the 2nd Quarter. This should not be close.

After watching Highsmith prance around on Sunday like a retard, you'll get no argument from me that he's the unsung hero. Apologies to Patches O'Houlihan.

I look forward to my lunch of crow a la carte. That will mean this team is making progress, beating up a team it should beat up. Another week, another game removed from the Carolina debacle.
