Prior to the post play Beanie PF for swinging at the Seahag, we made a 1st down at the hag 4. The 15 yarder brought it back to the 19. It should have been 1st & goal at the 19. To my recollection, the TV graphic read just this. Then the 2nd down play read "2nd & goal". Then all of a sudden it was 3rd & 1 at the 10. Then 4th & 1. Then of course came the Beanie TD run. Did anyone else notice this or was I on a twilight zone trip for this series?

You saw it correctly and the TV crew never explained why. I believe it's because the PF was dead ball, which reset everything regarding the 1st & goal. Had the penalty been during "live" play, it would have been 1st & goal from the 19.

You're correct...it occurred after the ball was dead and before the 1st down play was run....so 1st and 10 at the 19.

It tripped me out too. But not only because it happened but, like mentioned above, no one really even mentioned it and went on business as usual. I'm like "what the hey!" I mean thanks but I do like an honest officiated game after we have had so many ( what i consider) calls go against us over the years.

I think that is why Jim Mora Jr of the seahawks was mad as fire after the game and sent a tape into the league with all their mistakes this week. We got jobbed on a couple of cals as well. IT just may have been a bad crew altogether? Hmmmm.

But we are with you , we saw it and wondered as well.

Man they called a bogus hold on Gandy when Breaston should have had his 2nd TD of the day.

And that facemask call on McFadden was weak. He didnt twist or pull on the mask.

Also the facemask call on Dockett was weak, he didnt even grab the facemask!

This officiating crew seemed like a bunch of noobs.

I complained about the officiating in another thread. I think it was just a bad game by this crew that affected both teams. As for my initial post here, wasn't the 1st down at the 4 done & whistle blown & the Beanie infraction a dead ball foul after this play? If it wasn't I'm definitely losing it.

"They made the first down and then got called for the unnecessary roughness," Pereira wrote in an e-mail. "It will always be first-and-10 unless the foul is against an official."

Pereira is an nfl officiating director, stole the quote from espn, so they called that penalty right

It was the same way at the stadium on the signs. It was extremely confusing.

That used to be the rule "back in the day" but it was creating too many 1st and 25's so the NFL changed it on dead ball infractions a while back.

For the record, I too was mystified why Arizona was running the ball on what I "thought" was third and goal from the 11!

Well, it was Walt Coleman's crew. If you aren't familiar with Walt, he's the guy who dragged out the infamous "tuck rule" in 2001 so the Patriots could continue their Cinderalla story after Brady fumbled the game away. Since that day, I've seen the tuck rule called only one other time: Last year, when Romo fumbled the ball away in the end zone against the Cardinals.

I think just about everybody was confused, I was confused. Seemed Whiz was the about the only one on the sideline that knew, cause he had no hesitation pulling rackers back off the field.
