Why would you compare these two? There are no similarities between them, other than being men.

Musician? Are you kidding. When I was in high school I saw Hendrix in concert and I've never seen a better musician since. Springsteen is not even in the same universe as far as being a musician. (IMHO)

This could be the worst comparison of all time. Its like comparing the X Files with the Brady Bunch....it makes no sense.

Musician-wise it's Hendrix but as a song writer it's Springsteen.

Hendrix can play guitar better with his teeth than Springsteen on his best day.

OK, let's compare at the same age. Springsteen put out Born to Run when he was 26. No need to go into how that album did and how great some of the songs were. Sure Hendrix was great but I can name 5 songs off of Born to Run that are better than anything Hendrix ever wrote: Jungleland, 10th Avenue Freezout, Night, Born to Run, Thunder Road, Backstreets, She's the One, and Meeting Across the River. All great songs in their own right but to have them all on 1 album. Even Bruce's albums before BTR are great. The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle is one of the most underrated albums of all time. Again, as a guitar player, no one touches Hendrix. As a song writer, I put Springsteen on par with Lennon & McCartany.

Who was the better musician?

^^^ is the question. Not Which is the better songwriter? Musicians make/play music. Composers write/create the music. Songwriters write the lyrics.

There is absolutely no question of who the better musician is.its Hendrix. As far a writing a decent song comes into it Springsteen wins everytime. Anyway, although jimi is the man who started it all off and the biggest guitar influence ever, it still doesnt mean that he's the best guitarist ever. EVH technically leaves him standing. And van halen write better songs.

Why, all of a sudden, are these long since dead threads being resurrected.

And that's the bottom line, cuz this dude says so. As usual, NJCF states his opinion as FACT rather than preference.

I prefer Hendrix and it's pretty common knowledge that he was a more skilled guitar player but to say one was better than the other is a completely baseless argument. This isn't football, you cant choose a winner when it comes to art. Besides, the two are completely different. Here's another great question. What's better, apples or oranges?
