:idea:wait...wait...NO IT DOESNT!
Guys...Preseason=NOTHING but evaluating players trying to make the team and to get all the guys on the same page.
Look at the last ten years or so and you'll see that the cards usually play Awesome in the preseason...and look what happened in the REAL season.
STOP tripping out...and take a breathe.

The starters didnt play well, the OL looked bad (no news there) and the D could not stop anything.
Dont give me, "O there is no gameplan"
Lineman still block, and defenders are still supposed to tackle.
FUNDAMENTALS!!!!
That right there is a reason to not get to bummed, caz it can be fixed, BUT it hasnt been fixed for awhile.

Our starting RB only played for a couple plays again. Hello!
By the way: with our starters in the score was 13-3. Hardly bad playing blow out etc.

no doubt. Preseason Superbowl!!!
Im just saying the OL looked bad, and defense didnt look good.
We can debate back and forth, (im not pointing at 2nd half)
Fact is, NE marched the ball up and down the field and failed to punch it in. Ill hand it to the Cards they stopped them, but to me, it was bad execution.
Cant wait till the Reg. season tho and we can see what happens when starters go all game.

The Cardinals practiced winning in preseason last year. Check the records, then check the regular season record. Preseason records mean nothing!

Heh......youve seem to change your tune from last week. Seeing how you and a couple others in these forums where all intensely hyped over last weeks win over the "defending Superbowl Champs" and their one-series-and-done starting QB.
Gettin away injury-free is the main aim of many athletes and coaches. Nothing more. And anyone who places too much stock in the pre-season might be setting themselves up for a tearful regular season.

I understand its preseason ... but you have to show up for every game and give a complete effort win or lose ...
Does anyone really feel that we gave our best effort out there tonight .. ???
I certainly don't ...

Yes, it would be fine if they lost the pre season games differently than they lost the past years "real" season games.....but they're not!! It's the same ol "S"! No offensive line, no linebackers, d backs make one great play and get beat on the next, everyone on the team just wants to do thier own thing, there is no team play, no team work The Bidwells have made a team of overpaid ghetto cry babies! At least J.C. brought respect to his basketball and baseball teams and thier players and this city and this state, We don't and won't have that with this Cardinal football team.

yeah and NE did not show up vs CIN
and NE did not give their best effort vs CIN
and what happened in the REGULAR SEASON they won the SB
effort, showing up, etc mean nothing in pre-season
as NE themselves proved
16 games real games mean something that's when effort means something
the score without us using Edge was 13-3 hardly no effort is it?
13-3 you add in Edge and it's probably closer then that
i just remembered we dropped an easy int so the real score should have been 10-3 at the half
and the reality is going into the 2nd half vs any team this year down by 10 i'll take it - that's totally winnable

I for one maintain my enthusiasm after todays game...sure the game was utter cr$p but....:
a: No injuries...knock on wood (berry)
b: I think we will have a very competent backup QB as the season progresses....two days with the team and in the NFL and Leinart managed some decent plays.
c: Sure the defense didn't look great, but we stopped them for field goals when it mattered.
d: pre-season
e: And it doesn't really matter...still love em :redtowel: :redtowel: :redtowel: :redtowel: :redtowel:

Kurt had a bad game period. Boldin was non-existent. Johnson was out. Edge still has not played for a whole game. And with Shipp and Arrington, we still have no run game.
But
Rackers is still the man.
Leinart is our QB of the Future.
We stopped Tom Brady from scoring a passing TD. How many defenses have been able to do that in regular season.
One other point about Pre Season. All four teams that we play were playoff teams. Pitt=Super Bowl, NE=Second Best Passing Offense in NFL, Bears=#1 Defense, Broncos= Tied for second best standings in NFL(13 Wins). It isn't as if we were playing Pre Season games against teams who ended up with a losing record last season.
A 13-3 score at half time does not mean that we could not have rebounded had it been a regular season game. Keep in mind that JJ played the majority of the first half. What killed us was the interception by Warner. Had we kept that drive alive it could have been a 10-7 game or a 10-3 game at half time. After half time, the game was truly pre-season.
Does anyone think that Green Bay will be a good team this year, seeing that they spanked the Falcons in a 38-10 game? Same can be said in reverse about us, a 5-11 team got spanked by a playoff team with the second best passing offense in the NFL. And that spanking only really occurred when Navarre stepped in. Navarre did nothing to help us keep it to a mild blow-out.
It was not as bad as it looked, KEEP A POSITIVE OUTLOOK, at least until we play a regular season game.

Well we catch that easy int and it's 10-3 going into halftime!
In 1 half of football at the home opener for one of the best teams in the NFL we allowed essentially 10 points (if we grab an easy int) and we scored 3 (no Warner int) and it could have been 10-6 or tied.
A defense will allow a TD from time to time especially to a Tom Brady offense. If you think we're only going to allow FGs all year get real. We had 1 TD drive on us in a half and 1 FG essentially

That one interception lost the game..., right??? LOL That made the difference in the game??? Of coarse it did.., there's no way the OL, or Defense had anything to do with patz putting that many points on the board .. right???
Yes it is pre season, but the line is still terrible. JJ is playing at a higher level of intensity this year. I don't think you can assume edge is going to tear up the league this year with zero holes. He is great, but nobody can consistently get hit behind the LOS and expect big numbers

I think a good run back on ST will help JJ's confidence.
At first I was against JJ playing on ST, but it could work in his and the Cards favour.

JJ looked fine on special teams. If he had an O line he would look much better on offense too.

Bandwagon? Usually one steps onto a bandgagon of a winner, not a team that consistantly goes 6-10 or 5-11. There is no such thing as a Bandwagon Cardinal fan untill they start winning. All the people showing up at UofP stadium are just people who refused to get broiled alive in the shathole called SDS.
