Keys to SK's thinking will be:

(2) If the Cards take a QB in the 1st or 2nd, would guess that a veteran option (Stafford or Bradford) would be less. If the Cards pass on a QB in this draft, have to believe that SK is squirreling away his cash/comp draft picks for next year. Focus on a rebuild of the D through this draft and make the Cards an attractive landing spot in 2018.
(3) What does BA do---if his health holds and he has a winning season he might stick for 2018. BA needs a vet QB who knows NFL defenses and how to prepare for games and dig into his playbook. BA is not a coach that can make it happen quickly with a rookie QB especially given the reduced live-action time a #3 (or even a #2) gets through the season. Not too many college QBs are coming into the pro-ranks with the game experience & practice time with BA's style of offense.
You could look at all our FA losses this season as a way to rebuild---instead of trying to hold on to guys and wreak the cap space . . . just let 'em go to greener pastures.
Rollover the cap + stockpile comp picks + rebuild the defense with this year's draft + start our young guys = $$$ and cap space to bid on a young vet (name your favorite, Stafford, Bradford, Cousins)
The bottom line is we have a ton of options next year, which is why i don't want to reach this year. There are four potential first round QBs in next years class and all are more prepared than the kids coming out this year. Add Stafford, Bradford and Cousins to the mix and we have seven quality guys to choose from. I'd stack our defense through this year's draft and take a late flyer on Kaaya, Peterman or Kelly this year. The first two won't ever be more than a backup, but they will replace Stanton on the cheap. (two years from now)

We are fortunate to have things set up the way they have. This years class is loaded with defensive talent at positions of need for us. Next years class is loaded at our offense needs. It's rare drafts offer great depth in the areas you need most. Reaching for a QB this year is not in our best interest.
Cousins will go to San Fran the first chance he gets
I have had the chance to go to training camp practices, see a meaningless preseason game vs denver, and see some of these young players out there. Penny is a player I want to see on the 48 man roster. I was routing for him out there during preseason and he is a big back too. Harlan Miller is also intriguing with his raw, ball hawking instincts. I felt like I was looking a Super Bowl prospect team out there as crazy as it sounds. They were still so raw, but Keim has been doing better than some might give him credit for.

Harlan Miller will play safety in 2017, this and many more interesting Q&As from today's coaches breakfast

Key guy we need at full-speed is Honey Badger. He claims to be both stronger and faster now after his second recovery from knee surgeries:
Would like to hear some independent verification from staff/other players that this is true. HB has the dedication and drive to recover---let's all hope his body goes along with the willpower.
Penny looked good in last year's pre-season games---of course he was playing against other rookies, etc who were fighting for a roster spot.

Looks like Boehm is the current RG and will still challenge AQ for Center. But with AQ signing a 2 yr deal I look for Boehm to be the lead Olineman for keeping the RG position. And then taking Center over in a year or 2 if someone better isn't drafted or signed as a FA. Toner and Wetzel are still in play for back ups at G and T. Boggs is still around too but coming back from an injury.
It's reported that Smokey has been doing 2 a day work outs for sometime and the leg/tiredness issues have not been showing up. Jaron has also been doing well in his work outs. Now throw in Ross, Dobson, and Ellington and the WR room is getting pretty full with incumbents Fitz and JJ.
Both Bethel and B Williams are expected to be fighting for the CB2 spot with Bethel having an edge there.
OTAs and Mini's should be some intense sifting of these positions.
Lots to look forward too on top of the Draft and it's mysteries.
Well of course that's the million dollar question and always has been. Is it squat strength, brute force or inexplicable, crazy athleticism noone can teach where the best dive and miss some unknown. Keeps me watching this game, the romantic mystery of just some guy. David Johnson wowed me like that when I saw the combine. Probably a lucky guess, but it never gets boring.
