So he's getting beat by Zac Dysart? I'll rather have Blain Glabbert than Zac Dysart

Hasn't signed yet, but sounds like that's just a formality

Urban acts like he's supposed to be competition for #3, I got a feeling he could challenge Stanton. Eventually...
    The question of Daryl Washington.

Neither will make the team. Arizona not going to carry 3 qb.

    Re-posting from the other thread:

Look at this move as a Stanton upgrade instead of a post-Palmer QBOF move and it makes a lot more sense.

Stanton's career: 53.2% passer, 3165 total yards, 6.3 yards/att, 14 TDs/19 INTs, 66.3 QBR with better talent around him. Last two years a 2015 22.8 QBR and 2016 36.9 QBR. Awful, even though he's been in BAs system forever. 2007 second rounder, 6'3", turns 33 on Sunday.

Gabbert: 56% passer, 7351 total yards (twice Stanton's even at 6 yrs younger), 6 yards/att, 38 TD/37 INTs, 71.5 QBR with worse situations and talent around him. Last two years 2015 86.2 QBR and 2016 68.4 QBR. Ok, even though he went from horrible Jax system to Harbaugh to Kelly and drastically new systems. 2011 first round junior, 6'-4", 27 years old.

Stanton, a 43rd pick in the 2007 draft, has no future as a starting QB in the NFL. Gabbert, a 10th pick in the 2011 draft, still has a chance.

Exactly! I've been a Stanton supporter but he has really needed someone to push him for the last 3 years. Knock the complacency rust off! His contract is up at the end of the season. This is a trial by fire for him. IF Gabbert beats him out then we have a better younger #2 and a possible stopgap QB if CP retires next year or gets hurt this year.

And if Gabbert can not even beat out Dysert, he gets cut and we move on. I have no problem with AZ signing Gabbert like this.

He signed for barely over vet min, and at $855k or whatever will just replace some 650k guy towards the bottom of the 53 salaries included in the cap. So it's like a $200k cap hit, which is nothing.
