Default Article: Robert Nkemdiche suffers injury, could miss rest of minicamp

Hopefully its nothing serious, but we know hamstring injuries can linger...

The Arizona Cardinals held their first practice of the week of mandatory minicamp and second-year defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche might not be able to go the rest of the week.

Coach Bruce Arians missed practice because his daughter had a baby, but he did tell the media after practice about the injury.

I Robert Nkemdiche pulled a hamstring, but hes had a helluva spring, so if he misses the last two days, it wont mean anything, he said.

By all accounts all spring, Nkemdiche has been doing great, working hard and approaching the game like a professional.

The team is counting on him to contribute a lot in 2017 following an injury-riddled and disappointing rookie season in 2016.

    He has time to heal.

I don't like BA's policy on stretching. Not everyone is like Fitz (who puts in the extra time) and players who have a reputation of not giving 100% (Nkemdiche) are not going to stretch on their own. In a copy cat league BA pretty much stands alone on this.

    Brilliant!

Evidently you didn't bother reading Arians' remarks.

Well I'm a credibility junkie for lack of a better term. The problem with guys like Nkemdiche who goof off or otherwise screw up out of the gate is that if bad stuff happens later the person doesn't have a history of being a stand up guy so the mind wonders if he has a hammie because he didn't properly prepare. It's impossible for anyone to know, of course, so the speculation begins. Flash back to 2003 with Boldin, he comes out of the gate looking like an all pro so if he says he can't go with a hammie or something else there's zero reason to wonder about it. He's earned the right.

Who cares what BAs remarks are?

Nkemdiche was a bust when they drafted him and hes a bust to this day. His status hasnt changed. BAs comments are worthless until Nkemdiche proves otherwise on Sunday.

He'll be fine in 2-3 weeks ... though I do hope BA talks with team when Mini-Camp is over and to the S&C coach that these soft tissue injuries don't have a place if the players workouts are properly structured and adhered to including stretching. Nkemdiche - CB2 - RG are the 3 positions (barring serious injury to the top 6-8 key players) that are key for a long playoff run.

P.S. BA has complained in the past about soft tissue problems and so Nkemdiche has 1 strike but is not a big deal at all if he doesn't have same issue in training camp.

Right. What would Arians' know about his offseason and readiness to contribute that you don't. And you're right, his status hasn't changed , he no more of a bust after one season than this year's starting Left tackle.
