Default If you look up "Homer" in the dictionary...is there a picture of "CardCore"?

Are the Cardinals flying under the radar? Or are they just destined for mediocrity in 2017?

Prior to 2008, I used to post a lot over at Fox sports. It was rough and tumble, with no such thing as a moderator. A Cardinal fan had to have skin like a rhino, because amongst fan/posters of every team in the NFL, our team was every bit as highly regarded as the Browns. In 2008, with Whisenhunt and Warner, Fitz and Boldin, and some very talented guys on D, I felt our team had a chance even though it might be slim.

Now? With 3 winning seasons in a row, and then a slip in 2016, it feels like we're back in 2007 for all intents and purposes. Any and every team that might possibly receive recognition as being a credible threat in 2017 is mentioned...except for the Cardinals.

I truly, honestly believe this team wins a minimum of 10 games this season and makes the playoffs. Am I just bein' a homer?

PS: Hope all you daddy dudes have a great Father's Day!

There is reason to believe IMO that the offense will remain in the the top 10 as long as the turnovers and injuries stay at a minimum. The defense is loaded with enough talent to stay near the top. So called experts don't really know a team unless they are a true fan. They write what they read or information that is received from the media. If three or four plays last season would have gone the Cards way the results would be a possible 10 win season and the playoffs. The media is down on the team for losses to the defense and aging veterans. But I believe that most of those losses have been addressed and regarding aging vets they provide experience and leadership. Can the team win 10 games or more, yes!

We could win 12 or 6. The reality of the NFL is the only given is the Pats will win 11 plus. The difference between 6 wins and 10 wins in the NFL is a little luck, a few calls and a bounce here and there. Every year is different. I'm a very optimistic pessimist. It's hard for me to believe that the 49ers and Rams will continue to be dysfunctional. I also see the potential for a very upgraded NFC East. If the Giants get their OL together and the Eagles have someone who can catch the ball there are going to be a lot more tough outs in the East. At Phily and Washington along with at Detroit are not easy games for a West Coast team. The Giants and Dallas at home are also going to be a challenge. Those are two very good teams who need to win conference games. I think we have lots of toss up games this year. I wouldn't be shocked if we have 11 plus or another losing season. We need to be ready to go and get better every week.

Only in the last few years have I begun to really appreciate how tiny the differences can be between winners and losers in the NFL. A game can go either way for a team because of a penalty.... or any of a hundred other "minor" details.

Last season with the 2nd game against the Seahawgs in the waning seconds it hung on a single FG attempt that had been screwed up enough times prior that I had no idea what to expect. I was honestly fully prepared to lose, especially with them having to hustle out and get it done without a TO.

So, yeah, you're right. There's a lot more to it than just which teams have a lot of talent. Vegas gets some wrong every single week.

That's the way the league wants it. Fans of every team gotta believe if you're going to sell the tickets and adds. Everything the league does is designed to even the playing field including tilting it if it suits parity or parody if you prefer.

Elsewhere in the NFCW, for 49ers fans last year was abhorred--their's is a whining team.

So true. Eight out of ten times ( 7.89% ) teams that commits no turnovers in a game wins.

    I totally agree with this.

If you could change just a half dozen or so plays last year, we might have at least came close to making the playoffs.

I think the NFL has done a decent job in trying to create a level playing field so all teams can compete and the richest team doesn't always prevail.

It comes down to good management, talent evaluation, and coaching, not so much money. That is how it should be.

    Go Cards..
