    Default Darrelle Revis

What do you guys think? Would make total sense for him to come here.

On a team friendly contract as a #2, sure. Otherwise, he is a bit washed up for the money he might be asking for.

PFT had an article about Revis this morning, mentioning his working out in FL right now still hopeful to play this season.

The issue is he is guarenteed $6 million from the Jets in 2017, whether he plays or not. In addition, his contract contains offsets so he loses that money dollar for dollar with another team giving him a contract. No one is likely to pay him $6 million or more. What this means is, he likely makes $6 million this year whether he plays or not.

If for some reason a team like the Cards paid him $7 million, (and they won't) he would only make $1 million extra. Why risk injury and wear and tear?

Unless he just really, actually wants to play...for love of the game or competition or fun or to show the league he still has it...it makes sense to train for a year and stay healthy.

The only realistic path I see for a team like the Cardinals is if he does want a one year period "prove-it" type year, in order to get another large contract next year from some team. Showcase himself for a year, which might be smart after his down year.

The Cardinals IMO would be a good place to do this. Good weather, good field, good opportunity covering #2 WRs opposite PP21, and no crazy intrusive and negative East Coast media to contend with. He could make an impact here if he has truly lost weight and gotten back in shape physically and mentally. He could regain competitiveness with younger guys Peterson and Badger. He could actually have some fun, play loose, see lots of balls thrown his way and give him opportunities to make the big plays he's known for.

But if he's content to sit on a couch and make $6 million, who could blame him?

I do hope Keim has some eyes in FL right now checking on how he looks.

We could offer him $1 million a year and he still makes $6 million in 2017 the way I understand his remaining contract with the Jets. We don't want to spend much, but he will get paid ever way, even if he sits all year. Only way he plays is if some team decides to trust he's worth a long term contract or he wants to play to showcase himself on a one year deal. Cardinals would be a good place for the latter.

Last March, a GM was allegedly quoted saying he would not let Revis play on his team for free. That's a clear management signal about the player persona not fitting the team. The contract may or may not fit.
