cardinals ***Cardinals @ Eagles Game Day Thread***

Hi, Birdgang and Cardinals Nation! Our 2-2 Arizona Cardinals visit Philadelphia, PA for the first time in four seasons to play the 3-1 and NFC East division leading Eagles in today's 120th all-time meeting.

David Johnson's absence in the offensive backfield and his production in yardage, since he suffered his wrist injury is felt since the Week One Game in Detroit. Cardinals offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin addressed in a media press conference this week that despite the other running backs picking up the slack in the Cardinals running game by committee, with Chris Johnson, Andre Ellington, D.J. Foster, Elijhaa Henry, and Kerwynn Williams in the roles of "Next Man Up,' Arizona is currently ranked 32nd and last in the NFL in offensive rushing with both 2.65 yards per attempt and 57 yards per game after four games.

There were reports this week by Arizona to apply the no-huddle offense by the constant pressure the 49ers defense pressured on to Carson Palmer, in light of the 49ers game last week. Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians, Coach Goodwin, and assistant offensive line coach Larry Zierlein have been watching game film from the last game and win over the 49ers, to adjust and give QB Carson more protection on his o-line in front of him, to reduce his rushes and hurries on his dropbacks in developing his offensive play. CP also had at least 6 sacks during the 49ers game.

Today is also a homecoming in Philadelphia for Head Coach Bruce Arians and rookie linebacker Hassan Reddick, who each coached and played at Temple University. Arians was the Head Coach for Temple in 1983 through 1988 resulting with a 27-39 record in those six seasons. Three of his players from the Temple Owls, Todd Mc Nair, Kevin Ross, and current New York Jets Head Coach Todd Bowles, would later be coaches with or under Arians.

Hassan Reddick entered Temple as a walk-on back in 2012, and played running back and safety his freshman year. Reddick spent the rest of his college career playing defensive end. He has since was inserted and excelled as a linebacker since playing in the Senior Bowl and before the NFL Combine.

Arizona has won the last to games over Philadelphia with a combined score of 64-37. Carson Palmer threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to John Brown with 1:21 remaining in the fourth quarter to defeat the Eagles by the score of 24-20 at the University Of Phoenix Stadium back on October 26, 2014.

Cardinals also defeated and routed the Eagles 40-17 in their most recent game also played at Lincoln Financial Field on NBC's Sunday Night Football back on December 20, 2015. Carson Palmer completed 20 of his 36 passes thrown for 274 yards with a long pass play of 36 yards. David Johnson played 'beast mode' that night, with his 187 yards in 29 yards attempted, including his memorable 47 yard rushing play in the far sidelines for a Cardinals touchdown in the first quarter.

That win at the time clinched the NFC West Divisional title for Arizona at the time. However, Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Matthieu tore his ACL for the second time in his career in the fourth quarter, and placed on injured reserve. Had Matthieu's injury did not occured at Philadelphia that night, there was speculation the Cardinals would have reached Super Bowl 50 instead of the Caroilina Panthers after the NFC Championship Game, had the Honey Badger been healthy from his torn ACL injury.

Our Arizona Cardinals entering today leads the all-time series with 59 wins, 59 losses, and 5 ties, including 166 regular season and 3 postseason games, a series and rivalry that began with a 12-3 win back in 1935. Cardinals also defeated the Eagles 28-21 in their last NFL Championship of any form back in December 1947. That stated, the Cardinals and their predecessors from Chicago and St. Louis under the Bidwill's family watch, has not won the NFL Championship and today Super Bowl championship, in 70 years.

Chris Myers and former Dallas Cowboys halfback Daryl Johnston are announcing the live TV game commentary, along with sideline reporter and interviewer Laura Okmin, for the NFL On FOX's early regional doubleheader game seen regionally throughout the USA, and locally on KSAZ My Fox Phoenix Channel 10, live on HD.

Dave Pasch and former Cardinals and NFL fullback Ron Wolfley are also announcing the live radio game play-by play and analysis, simulcast on flagship stations KMVP Arizona Sports 98.7FM, and KTAR ESPN SportsRadio 620AM, and The Arizona Cardinals Radio Network.

Scattered thunderstorms at 77 degrees, a possible influence by and from Hurricane Nate down South, is the game forecast inside Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia for the 10:05AM Mountain and Pacific Standard Time kickoff, along with 40% precipitation, 88% humidity, and southwest winds at 10 miles per hour.

Head referee and judge John Hussey, a sales representative for a retail logistics group who graduated from Idaho State, leads his officiating crew assigned by the NFL to supervise the game action on the playing field between the Cardinals and Eagles.

Visiting Cardinals are wearing their white helmets, jerseys, and pants, while the host Eagles are wearing their forest green helmets and jerseys, and white pants.

Many of the Cardinals and Eagles players, coaches, and their team supporting staffs on both sidelines may voluntarily wear NFL authentic pink-colored team apparel and equipment to support the NFL's annual 'Crucial Catch' campaign to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October.

NO injuries to both the Cardinals and Eagles players on the field, and let's see Arizona go for their third win, with a more productive running game and your third win in a row, over the Eagles in Philadelphia, and LET'S GO CARDINALS!!!!!

Wendell Smallwood, their best backfield receiving threat, is out for the game. we need to stack the box early against Blount to put as much pressure on Wentz as possible later in the game.

    Thanks Westgate for the Thread

    We are going to win.

Not going to be easy but I like our defense
    and Palmer is playing well.

I just hope we give him some sort of protection.

Thanks to both of you FL Cardinal Fan and Rimrock Card! I just finished and submitted the Game Day Thread well before kickoff, should be a great and entertaining game today. I hope the dampness doesn't impact and deter the players performance on the field, especially the Cardinals ground and passing game, and the defensive and special teams units.

The battle of the Carson's quarterback's - Cardinals Carson Palmer vs. the Eagles Carson Wentz. So far Wentz and the Ram's Jared Goff - taken 1 and 2 in the 2016 NFL Draft, are producing and shining more in their second year in the NFL. Something to take notice I'm sure the Cardinals while they are on the road away today and when Arizona plays the Rams in London on October 23 and December.

I think Hasson Reddick will step up and be gien more playing time today because Marcus Golden is out for the season with his torn ACL injury in the 49ers game last Sunday in Glendale.

Also the Cardinals D wil be on the lookout for RB LeGarrette Blount, he won a championship and a ring with the Patriots on Super Bowl LI last February.

Pederson smartly defers AND kicks short to take advantage of the lousy return game.
