The Arizona Cardinals announced a pair of moves on Tuesday. The expected release of veteran running back Adrian Peterson was made official, saving the team more than $2.8 million in salary cap space. The release will not carry any dead money on the cap. ESPNís Adam Schefter reported he could return to the team later on. They also announced they tendered restricted free agent defensive tackle Xavier Williams. In doing so, they have the possibility of matching any other offer another team makes for him. While it was not announced, it was likely the low tender, which would pay Williams more than $1.9 million in 2018. Since he was originally signed as an undrafted rookie, there would be no draft pick compensation.
