With Pace being offered Adalius Thomas money by Miami, it obviously doesn't seem worth it to try and sign him at the price. Suppose events play out as follows: Pace signs with Dolphins. Suggs does not sign a new contract with the Ravens. Chike can hold down the fort at OLB for the next year. We can also assume we get some cheaper backup help via free agency or the draft. There aren't too many worthwile free agents this year anyway (not in our price range at least).

Now we focus on re-signing Boldin or A-dub and/or we restructure Fitz' deal to be front end heavy (through roster bonus and what not, like we did with most of the FA's last year) and take a larger part of the cap hit this year. Now we are set up perfectly to take a run at Suggs and whoever else may be available (lots of players tagged this year that could be up for FA next year). We may be trading Pace now for Suggs later.

Interesting take Steve. Dreams like that always get us through to "next" year. I like the scenario but it should would have been nice to add a few pieces this year to keep improving.

I hate it that Fitz didn't step up and let us make a run at Pace though.

I like this thinking. I am finally glad there are others who realize that this years FA is kind of lacking except if you want to overpay big time.

Suggs is a player I would pay a little extra for but within reason.
