I think any free agent acquisition has to be evaluated against itself.

Did the free agent perform to the expectations of the organizaion?
Was the free agent's production commensurate to the salary paid?

Did the acquisition produce the desired results?

Drachir.
My beef has never been with Edge. Just the decision to bring him in. He did as well as could be expected, but we all know where the running game needs to be attended to. And IMO that hasnt been the personnel since about 2004. Shipp was a decent back. JJ was hung out to dry. Edge proved his ability in Indy. And now we have two young kids getting hammered into making fumbles. All along the O line, as much as they improved last year, are the real reason the Cards ground game stinks. None of these players I've just listed stink.

The play calling is also more to blame than the backs. So not really knocking Edge. The decision? Absolutely!
Gotta agree here...remember Dennis Green saying the Cards WERE NOT going to pay big $$$ to get any free agents? A week later, here comes Edge...think that had anything to do with trying to put butts in the seats at the grand opening of UPS?

$30M for 4 seasons wasn't exactly a bargain...Edge wanted out after 3.
